Ahh, so he can run much more wattage on his home circuits than we can. Bonus for them!

Your close but not quite right.

The statutory supply range for electricity in Australia is 216V to 253V.

90% of Australia is receiving 240v.

Ebay to the rescue, I found a near new UD9 which is making its way to me this week in time for when the blocks arrive.

Here's what the technicians from Gigabyte said when they reviewed my build log and diagnosed the Post 88 error. Great guys at Gigabyte!!

"Thanks for sharing your PC, this machine is pieces of art it should runs extremely well in any weather condition and amazingly built.

After studying on your system, noticed that you have 4 individual “aquagrafx GPU cooper water block heatsink” installed on your machine, I suggest you could have these 8x PCIex power cables up raise a bit or any surface could tighten the cables on the top side of case (inside), so that is not putting so much tense/force downwards, in a long run could caused motherboard bent as well as chipset missed-contact/internal PCB damages.

Both of previous UD9 damages were identically and we’ve defined damages were all near Southbridge and BIOS chipset has missed contact from PCB"

So I have to be careful with the weight of the GPUs/cable tension on the MB!
I was hoping for an SR-2 build with a couple of hex core xeons

Anyways, I definitely agree w/ GB. Quad blocks is purrrtty heavy. I've seen some flimsy card support devices but I'm sure you can get a shop to custom make you a support bracket to ease the weight off the UD9.

I also think that all the heat from the cards over that area of the board are probably contributing which is why I never had a problem before with the last build.
Once the blocks go on and temps go down, hopefully that will be the last of it!

I've found a solution to this i think by securing the cables to the underside of the MB support rail to reduce the cable droop pressure and will look at putting a rubber strip slightly heigher than the top of the MB pcie slot along the edge of the MB at the back of the board to help relieve pressure on the board. The PCIE slot screw mount should relieve pressure at the other end.

I also got a complete metric and imperial tap & die set so I can drill and tap holes around the case for the cable clamps I got from MDPC.

I might even look at a threaded insert rivet gun and put some riveted threads in instead of drilling and tapping because the metal is only 1.2mm in most places, not enough for a thread to grip!

Highest prices.

4X GTX SLI = $650 x 4= $2600

1 990X Intel i7 1366 Cpu= $999

2 x Vertex 2 120GB = $400

2 X 1.5tb = $200

Mobo WC Kit = $250

GA-X58A-UD9 = $500

24GB Dominator GT2000=$520

2X Enermax 1500 watt = $800

Mountain Mods Ascension (Modded) =$800

3X Acer H243H= $600

Win 7 Ultimate $400

Total=$8,070.

Water cooling gear, fittings, rads, res, tubes, miscellaneous= $3,500

Total $11708

Aussie Shipping Tax $700

So grand Total of $12,270

Round down $12,000

So to be correct , 12 = 3 x 4. 12 is a multiple of 4 and 3, not 4 and 5.

On a more serious note, such a system can be had here in America (with very careful looking) for well under $9,000. Remember those are all highest prices.

So with lowest prices, you can get it for around $8,000. Now $8K is closer to $5k than it is to $20k.
Really? Nice of you to adjust his account balance for him. I am sure he appreciates the extra $8000 you found for him - just paypal him the amount so he can build this thing a baby brother.

Phatboy69, I'm worried of your electric bill. Can you tell me some of the reasons why you used one particular component over the other. It just doesn't add up.

Example is the use of i7 990X over i7 2600K. The Sandy Bridge CPU is faster than the fastest Gulftown in most Benchmarks. Why spent a thousand dollars on a CPU when you can get a $270 CPU that is much faster?

Why run (4) GTX 580 on Quad SLI when you can run (2) GTX 590 on Quad SLI? You can save a lot of power using (2) dual GPU video cards as opposed to (4) single GPU video cards. There'll be less power to use & less components to cool down.

It just doesn't add up at all for me when you can build a better set up with a fraction of the price.
