Ordered a new PSU last week, was a Corsair CX600w, but had a whistling noise, they gave me replacement which is now a CoolMaster GX650w, is the CM better than the corsair?

Lmao, why "is it" so "bad"? They had no more corsairs left and the whistling noise was so annoying, i don't see anything wrong with this coolmaster.

It's a decent power supply but has quite a few problems. The Corsair is still quite a bit better so I would return that and get a refund.

There are two revisions of the GX series, the first was made by Seventeam and especially the 750W was terrible. The second revision is done by Enhance and is better and can do full load without going up in smoke. So I guess it depends on which rev you got.

If it looks like this:

And says Bronze on the side, it's the better one. If not, it's the older, inferior model.

Why did they send you a different power supply, and who did you originally purchase from?

http://hardocp.com/article/2010/11/2...supply_review/ is a review of the older one, part number RS-650-ACAA-E3. If that's what you got, get rid of it.
If you got part number RS-650-ACAA-D3 however, it's alright.
