I agree with this. I also have a Noctua D-14 and the compound that comes with it is excellent quality. Don't waste your money on buying another compound if you already have a great one that comes with your cooler. But the decision is up to you.

Do agree that TIM isn't all that important.
But I have a tube of Cooler Master stuff here that game with my TX3, and it's like water...
Noticed over 5c worth of difference over it and Arctic Silver 5.

Also got some Shin-Etsu. Fantastic stuff.
AS5 was better than the CM stuff? Only asking because i got some with my 212+

I have the IC diamond and it works amazing. hard as hell to get off but very good
and AS5 is better than the cm stuff that it comes with now. if you have the thermal fusion 400 then the cm stuff is good but the recent stuff that it comes with is pretty crappy

AS5 takes a little while to fully kick in but it is worth the wait. Very good performance and extremely easy to remove if you need to re-seat your heatsink.

CM thermal fusion 400 is on par if not better than AS5, I own both and the temps were pretty much the same for me. Only thing is the recent CM 212+ doesn't come with Thermal Fusion 400

The best thermal solution right now is Indigo Xtreme. The best thermal paste so far is the Prolimatech PK-1. Check the 2011 roundup @ SkinneeLabs.
