Hi all,

I need to disable these leds on the ASUS Spot Cool (I got from best buy). I can't handle the blue. It does not go well with my red theme

Anyone own this? Anyone successfully snipped the right wire? Or any suggestions for disabling the LEDS?

(BTW: If you have a Lian-Li case, good luck getting this on one of the motherboard screws, it requires an extra long screw, and the lian li ones are threaded differently than most. I had to mount the unit on my push/pull intake. Look better IMO)

Look at the pic that I took for easy reference:-
There is one set of 3 wires (black, red and yellow) going through the frame. It then spilts into two sets of 3 wires.

When I looked into the gap from another angle, the red wire of 1st set seems to be connected nearest to LED4.
Based on this, I think the 1st set is for the 4 LEDs and 2nd set for the fan itself.

So, cut the red wire of 1st set should disable all 4 LEDs.

An alternative permanent approach is to cut the LEDs directly (see the orange line)

***Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk***

Thanks! I bought this fan knowing I would disable the LEDS, and in the process probably ruin the unit.

I was hoping to get a good idea of what wire to cut and this helped out a lot.
