[Help Needed] The right keyboard for me?

Dear all,

After much reading and much confusion in my brain, I finally decide to post here and ask some specialist about their opinion on my problem.

Let me explain:

I'm ready to take the leap and go for a mechanical keayboard. At the moment using a Logitech G11, I'm quite excited to go for a mechanical keyboard, but being a geek, I want the best for my money (just like everyone else I guess).

My usage would be obviously gaming, as follows:

80% RTS: Starcraft2 ...
15% FPS: BFBC2, CS source ...
5% Typing: mostly internet, forums ...

I was looking into Razer Blackwidow at first, but then realised user feedback wasn't all that great, so I thought well Steelseries 6Gv2 seems to be what I want but Black switches don't seem to be the best choice for RTS games...

So what should I do???

I'm not really fussed about having a backlit keyboard, even though I have one at the moment and think it would be nice, but I'd rather have a better keyboard alltogether without light than a bad keyboard with light...

The other problem Is that I live in France, and that all keyboards I've seen in this forum are not easily available in Europe, so bear that in mind when helpin...

I know I'm a pain and ask for a lot of things without knowing exactly what I want... XD

if you could at least help me choosing the right switches for my use that would be a great help and i then would be able to go shop around.

Thank you for reading and helping...

PS: Excuse my English... As I said, "I don't care, I'm French..."

Hey! Are you using an EU layout or an American layout? Bc I know we helped a guy the other night that found an EU layout board.

I recommend either Das, Ducky, or Filco, though there are other great brands as well. If you are doing RTS then either blue or brown switches would probably suit you perfectly.

More likely an EU layout, but I'm used to US layout too so that's not really an issue.

I'm actually quite proud of myself... I thought Blues would be the best for my usage.

I therefore discard the Steelseries 6Gv2 (Black Switches)

Any thought on good blue or brown boards?

Das makes great brown or blue boards. They basically have two models, model s have brown switches and the regular has the blue switches. I'm used to browns and I can completely vouch for them and the quality of a das board.

The reason I bring them up first though is because they offer a great student discount, if you can send in a picture of your student id they will only charge you 100 dollars (american) for your board.

EDIT: I'm not sure if that deal works internationally, better double check on that.

I'm not a student anyway... So that's not an argument.

I'll have a look into Das and check if I can order them in Europe...

To be honnest, i'd like an FR layout... :/

But well uk and US ain't that bad...

Filco and das seems good, I actually think Das are looking better.

How about build quality? is it close? both good I guess.

One other question, you said brown or blue are best for RTS gaming, what would be the best choice between Brown and Blue?

Or at least what is the difference in terms of feeling??

Hey!

After much thought, i'm looking into those:

FILCO MAJESTOUCH 2 NKR (seems perfect to me...)

ZOWIE CELERITAS PRO (Cheaper, but I don't like the look that much)

RAZER BLACKWIDOW ULTIMATE (Backlight but Blue switches)

Das Keyboard Model S Professional Silent (No AZERTY layout but I don't really mind)

What is the best choice? how about lettering on those?
Which one will be the less "noisy"?
Are those good starts for a noob at mechanical?

For some reason I'm attracted to Filco an Das...

Help.... Please....

I'd recommend the Filco

You can order one here
