Thanks for the input, but might I be a real pain and ask you why this one and not the DAS?

Sure I'd be glad to explain.

The FILCO and DAS are made in the same factory so they're pretty much equal in terms of build quality.

The FILCO offers an 87-key variety of keyboards, which is basically a keyboard without a numpad. I prefer having no numpad because I don't really need it and it is more ergonomic. Your keyboard becomes centered in with your body and your monitor without having to move it sideways into an awkward position and it also brings the mouse a lot closer to the keyboard. This reduces the distance your hand has to travel and your shoulders are in a much more comfortable position.

I also prefer the matte finish of the FILCO over the glossy finish of the DAS.

The das does have a gloss finish, some people are annoyed by it because you have to constantly clean it since the board attracts dust and smudge marks.
I don't mind, once a week I wipe it up. I go over all of my stuff once a week with a anti-bacterial cloth just to keep the dust away and everything clean anyways.

Glad to know it's the same maker... so build quality is equal. The thing is I want the numpad. You have a point, but I can't deal with numbers at the top whilst typing.

I guess I'll go with Filco as what you said about glossy is actually quite right.

What about the caps? are they the same? Does the filco wear off?

I'm not a fan of the FILCO stock caps which are made of ABS. They are known to wear out and become pretty shiny quickly. The nice thing about FILCOs though are that you can easily customize the keycaps on them with custom key cap sets. There are much nicer aftermarket keycaps made with different materials that you can order off eBay, tankguys, or geekhack group buys.

Do you absolutely need a numpad? If you don't do data entry or anything I would recommend that you put some serious consideration into a 87-key. I was kind of scared of losing the numpad's functionality at first but ever since I made the change I have never looked back.

The Das's keycaps are laser etched so they cannot be rubbed off.

Another option that you may want to consider is a Leopold. I recently decided on it myself as my first mech keyboard.

Here is the link. Its supposed to have fantastic build quality. I think I heard its made by the same people as the Filco and Das.

The Leopold is actually made in a different factory than FILCO and DAS, but it is definitely an excellent option for the OP to consider.

Ok, well I love Das Keyboard, looks just georgeous, but the don't make FR layout... :'(
Leopold is not distributed in EU... so it's a dealbreaker...
Filco is less attractive to me but ChoboGuy, I think you have a point, I hardly need the num pad except for my passwords... guess I could live without it...

The Filco Tenkeyless it will be then... ^^
