You seem to not understand what milking is.

You have a cow which makes milk, and you use that same cow until it dies of old age (or run out of milk). No new cow, just feet if every day, and you are done. Minimal expenses.

CoD is like having a cow, use it for 1 year, buy a new cow and throw the old one, use it for 1 year and repeat.

To put out a new CoD every year cost more than putting out an expansion every year and a half or so, considering the vast player base and income every month.
I mean, does CoD games brings in 120M dollars every month? I think not.

In conclusion, the only people crying about the game not being "hardcore" enough are the ones who have seen almost no heroic content or any of the truly difficult encounters in their time playing the game.
Blizzard realized something important in TBC - despite instances like SSC, TK, Hyjal/BT and Sunwell being out for several months (or over a year in case of SSC/TK), almost NO casual (or low-end raider) even knew what those instances looked like from the inside. What is the point when you've reached the end of the expansion and such a small amount of your playerbase has seen any of your amazing content?
To be "hardcore" today means keeping up with the tiers and progressing through heroic modes.

PvP in this game has been like this since the game was released. Right now the game is more balanced than it's ever been, and those rambling on about "oh the good old days of PvP" most likely have forgotten the INSANE imbalances that existed.

As for me...well, now I have a job and can no longer raid (rotating shifts ftl) and therefore only log on ~1-2 hours a week for some 2v2 Arena with my good friend. Wish I had time for raiding but I don't
There is a difference between being 'hardcore' and being 'challenging'. I did all the WotLK Heroics that my schedule allowed (Mostly ToC and some of ICC) - they didn't take too long, especially when I had free time on the weekends but I understood that if I wanted to raid I had to set some time away to do so. I had be invited to do more, I could have done more but my time just didn't allow it, especially with college work.

It's an RPG, it's only logical and natural that those that put more time/use their time more efficiently will progress further. That's how it should work, Blizzard should NOT just hand players stuff because they don't have as much time to play or don't like raiding etc.

Lots of players just want the stuff handed to them and cry about any content that they have to put effort into, in an RPG, that's just not acceptable and they are clearly playing the wrong genre of game - they expect to join an instance, put no thought in and move on to the next one to get some shiny loot.

I've played since EU launch and I've seen my fair share of the game, I completed the majority of Vanilla content, I missed a bit of TBC content while I was busy with work and was able to make it through the WotLK content too.

Even on the tiny server I was on there were still quite a few PUG groups (that did surprisingly well) running through the current end-game content. Getting geared up in WotLK was waaaay to easy running for the welfares and even then people wanted more gear, better gear for doing the low-end content which is just illogical.

The recent losses will be made up of all the little whiny Wrathbabies that fianlly need to put effort in, that finally have to use CC, that finally have to PLAY the game instead of facerolling through menial content for tokens; it will also be many of the older players that see the trivialised content - it's just not possible to cater for 2 groups at the opposite end of the spectrum and just half-assing it upsets them both.

Your probably right, I have a life outside my computer. I didn't do ANYTHING raiding, because as I said, I have no desire to give up my weekends to play a video game if I can be out. I would rather be camping or fishing. I thought I made it quite clear I was speaking of levelling and not raiding, didn't I say that 3 times?
You don't have to justify the fact that you like it to me, its great that you still like it.
Balance the classes? HAHAHA good luck with that!

It is no longer worth a monthly fee IMO. You don't have to agree, thats fine...but thats how I feel. When it becomes free to play, I may give it a "real chance" as you say, again...but to pay for that? No thanks...

Even on the forums/mmo-champion there are players moaning about how they want the Raiding gear but don't want to raid. These are the people Blizzard are catering for, the players who want everything handed to them on a platter.

That and the PvP balance was abysmal, nothing more rage inducing losing to an undergeared, underskilled, keyboard-turner just because he manages to turn round before you can burst him down and hit his 2/3 button 'I WIN' combo.

I personally enjoyed the levelling experience, now it's all just too fast so they can pump out the end game content.
Honestly this is the only major flaw to the game now. I lost interest in pvp when I saw terrible players in 1400 brackets with a full set of the current seasons gear. The game give no reward for extra effort or skill anymore. PVE has HC and PVP only has teir 2 weapons. Let's not get started on how the gear looks, it all is simply abysmal in comparison to gear from vanila and BC. The game has turned entirely casual. Their idea for gating weapons with a minimum ammount of CP of HP earned for the season is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. The should bring back the 1800 rating requirement as it was a great way to divide the progresion. The better players, for the most part, were able to get them sooner and advance in their ratings. For the lesser skilled it felt like an accomplishment onc they hit that 1800 mark and ran straight to the vendor screaming with enchant mats in hand lol. There needs to be a seperation of elite and amatuers, but lately it feels as if the elite are being punished for being good and had their rewards stripped to be handed out to the lesser skilled. My two cents from a long time pvper 2200+ in multiple brackets and classes through 3 expansions and a GM/HWL in Vanila.

I got bored of playing WoW at lvl 10 before BC... not my cup of tea. GW and all of Blizzard's other games like SC2 and Diablo were a lot more addicting. I had more fun on custom servers with instant 80 and all sorts of fun items/mounts, than with the original game.

To be "hardcore" today means keeping up with the tiers and progressing through heroic modes.
Difference is that while the Ulduar H25 content hadn't been cleared, every PuG raid could clear the zone on 10 man normal mode.

Stuff like that completely destroys the 'specialness' of high tier end game content.

And I'm not just talking about the very hardcore players...casuals don't realize it and I'm not even sure Blizzard really did, but seeing hardcore players with amazing loot and knowing that they're seeing content that you can't see; it makes you want to play harder.

99% of casuals back in Vanilla and Burning Crusade whined about wanting free gear, making content more accessible, making the game easier, etc. Yet they happily continued to play and would probably continue to do so if it remained the same.

Instead, Blizzard tried to pander to everyone so they could make as much money as possible...in the end, the casuals got bored because they basically had all the gear they really wanted and the hardcore players dropped out because (imo) it's just not such a special feeling to get a huge boss kill in heroic mode when you've already been killing the same stupid boss for the last 10 weeks on normal waiting for heroic to unlock finally.

If you don't have a good sized, hardcore group of players to keep the rest of the people striving to have what they have...the entire thing falls apart.

It's really not a much different concept than real life. If the government started handing out Ferraris and mansions to folks making $60K a year (let's say the Ferrari is a V8 and the V12 is reserved for the actual business leaders), then we'd basically have an economic collapse because there's no real incentive system left.
