Will Scythe Mugen 3 (SCMG-3000) block the first PCIe x1 slot if it is installed on a GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD?

You never make a mistake to ask a question. I suspect the heatsink is too new for anyone to have experience with it yet. I subscribed to the thread hoping someone would answer you.

I don't remember where I saw the review, but there is one up. If the dimensions aren't unreasonably larger than my mugen 2, it shouldn't block the very top slot. my mugen 2 placed so that it is longer vertically [i.e. longest side running parallel with longest side of board] it doesn't cover my pcie 1x top slot, but it is cutting it very close.

Just to be safe i would try and find a review or go to the manufacturer's website, check the dimensions, then use a tape measurer to see if your board has the right spacing.

and as ehume said, no need to apologize for asking a question It's how we all got started

I think I read in a review somewhere that it's just a little bit smaller than the Mugen 2, which is huge. I'll try to look up the review now.

Edit: Couldn't find the review. Here's some information I found elsewhere.

Mugen 3:
130 x 108 x 158 mm

Mugen 2 Rev.B:
130 x 100 x 158 mm

And here's some pics of the Mugen 2 installed.

You are all very kind. Thank you.

I asked about this motherboard specifically because I noticed that socket 1155 motherboards has its CPU socket lower than others.

I think if Mugen 2 not cover the most top (topest? Forgive my English) slot then Mugen 3 also will not.

Actually, I want to know if the following combination will work:

GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD
PowerColor SCS3 HD6850 (AX6850 1GBD5-S3DHG)
Scythe Mugen 3 (SCMG-3000)

Don't know if that's of any use.

Certainly seems they've reduced the overall thickness of it. They're obviously aware of people's RAM heatsinks and coolers.
