[CNN] Throttling for Everyone

Thread Starter
Quote:
On Friday AT&T announced that, starting October 1, it will begin throttling data delivery speeds to the "top 5%" of heaviest data users."
Quote:
"However, this month AllThingsD reports that Sprint will use its prepaid Virgin Mobile brand to test data speed throttling for customers using more than 2.5 GB of data in a month"
http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/mobile/...tml?hpt=te_bn9

Looks like AT&T is next on the throttling list, and Sprint doesnt seem to be too far behind.

I doubt Sprint will throttle or if they do it will be very minimal.
Look at their advertising commercials; They are focused on how their "Unlimited Data" plan is indeed unlimited.

Honestly, I can understand throttling prepay users once they reach 2.5GB in a month. Prepay users already receive all the benefits of the big 3's service, while paying less, with no perceived consequence. That is a lot of usage for 3G. Considering how slow Sprint 3G seems though, I don't know how low they can possibly take the download speeds...

If they move that throttling down the line to their full customers though I will be pissed and do absolutely nothing about it. The other wireless carriers are even worse.

There is no winning.
