i7 2600k + H70 OC Temps Help!!

post #1 of 35
Thread Starter
Hi guys in need of some serious help, well maybe not serious but it needs improvement imo.

Ive ran some quick tests and taken some quick shots to hopefully recive some help

Pics should explain all

As you can see after 22 mins with a room temp of 24 Degrees Celsius im receiving temps of up to 83 Degrees Celsius

Now to awnser your next questions

With an additional 120mm out take fan on the side right next to the 2x gtx 580s

(all case fans are 120mm 1600RPM 88cfm 33db)

OC Settings

Hope this is enough Information and i hope to see some creative ways to lower temps and keep stability (While keeping Noise to a min)
i know im asking for alot but i need help

Cheers, Hawwtie

Getting 80+ at 4.6 1.312v is hot.
The voltage you have is exactly same as my stable 4.6 (i5, though).
But my temp won't reach 80c in Prime. (around 70c)
And I'm on air. (d14, though...)
So the only thing is I can think of is the air flow of your case and radiator placement.
What you can try is to take off the side panel completely off and run the Prime.
So you'll know if it's really the case air flow making it to go that high temp.
If the temp comes down, then maybe what you need is the side panel fan. (which helps a lot along with the internal 120mm for GPU you have.)

I have 1x120 1x200 @ front intake, one internal 120 blowing air to GPU, 1x120 side intake, 1x200 top exhaust, 1x120 back exhaust.
I can keep the case temp under 30c on load for this. (ambient about 23~26)

I dont see the problem there. Its a H70, Moderate OC, Silent Case.

Make it intake.
Fresh air in is important than hot air out.
Since hot air come out wherever it's possible.
But the fresh cool air won't come in unless you make it to.

Do this.

Also, Check that the fans are not blowing against each other on the H70 Rad.
It's an easy mistake
(Picture below of what I mean)

[] = Rad

---> = Fan Airflow Dirrection

---> [] <---

<--- [] <---

Finally, you could try re seating the H70 to the CPU and some new thermal paste

After 4.6, you'll need lots of voltages to make it stable.
My big jump is at 4.8 to 5.0. (1.385 to 1.490)
And lots of heat form it....

Should have gone with an NH-D14

Yeah try some different fan combinations, namely pull air from outside the case through the H70. The air that you are running through it from the inside is being heated by your video cards.....
post #10 of 35
The stock fans of the h70 kinda suck, they need better static pressure to really see better results from that cooler. Most are displeased at that point since its already a pricey cooler
