This or the Maximus. I also loved my ASUS P8P67 Pro.

Some boards I wouldn't get are:

P67 Sabertooth - Gimmick on the 1155 socket, overpriced for a shroud (Believe me I had it)

P67A-GD65 - (My board) It has insane VRise under load. Making it so when you're not under load your voltage drops and you BSOD. I have to make it drop to 1600MHz when not under load.

I know there are a HUGE number of choices for 2600k motherboards. What I found helpful was this thread that shows the OC people are running. For me, a folding stable oc was important and the other features not important at all. That's why I picked the Extreme4. It looks like you are a gamer, so if you want to be able to run multi cards, ask on here what board in your price range does that the best.

Well. This will be my first build. Hopefully I won't have to upgrade for awhile. Right now.. The PC I have is pathetic.
I'm running a Gateway GT4024 ( I bought it for 100$ )
Intel D 805 Processor 2.6GHz
333 MHz Dram freq.
Nvidia Geforce 9500GT.

As I JUST got back into computer recently so I'm still learning about OC'ing etc. I mean honestly anything over 4.0GHz I'll be perfectly content. With all the games coming out at the end of the year quarter. BF3, MW3, Skyrim, AC: Revelations. ETC. I just wanna make sure I can run all of those highest settings with no problems.

So far what I have in my newegg cart for next month is.
IN WINN Maelstrom Black case.
Samsung Spinpoint 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 6870 1gb GDDR5
Rosewill Xtreme Series 850W PSU
Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
G.Skill Ripjaws 8gb 1600 (4x2gb)
ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Mobo
i7 2600k Sandy Bridge CPU
Noctua NH-D14 Cpu cooler.

No SSD or at least RAIDed HDDs? The F3's are one sale for $50 on newegg.

Also, if you are going to get a system like that, buy a nice name-brand PSU. Nothing like having a $1000 explode from a $50 PSU.

I think you'll get the same gaming from a 2500k and it will save you some dollars. Use one of the online PSU calculators to see the size PSU you will need if you got a second card. Look in the PSU section of the forum for a list of models that will work well at that power level. You're going to have a monster rig!

I calculated everything. My PSU that I have selected will be fine, even when I decide to crossfire

Seems like this is for gaming. Then you should go with i5 2500k.
Unless you do lots of video editing or use apps capable of utilizing HT, i5 is better.
i5 OC better/easier with lower voltage since there is no HT.
And it is more than enough for any games coming out in the future.
If it's for gaming and getting i7, you'll be end up turning off HT because it doesn't OC well... so... get i5 in the first place.

I'd highly recommend you to stick with extreme4 P67 or Z68.
Extra $60 on useless features and the ugliest UFEI on earth are NOT worth it imo...
AsRock is great because of the cost/performance.
I mean.. if you really want the 2 extra USB 3.0 and "Fatal1ty Mouse Port (USB 2.0)" and overkill v16 power, by all mean go ahead..

AS5 is old now. It still works great but you need to wait 200hours for it to work.
There are much better ones in terms of curing time and conductive materials being used.
I use arctic cooling MX-4. non-conductive and no curing time.

As for getting the NH-D14 is good.
You need better air flow in the case. or it is going to be a waste.
Ambient temp and the case air flow is everything for air cooling.
You will need extra fans. Stock fans that come with the case aren't enough.
I hope you have some old 120mm around to put into the new case.

If you get i5 and extreme4, you save $160.
And now you can get the most important component for gaming, the GPU.
You can at least get GTX570 or the equivalent ATI card.
Also I'd rather get better PSU and/or a SSD for OS drive (it'll be a night and day.)
