Home Server Build

Thread Starter
I'm trying to piece together a cheap home server build and I'd like some advice on the components.

Here's what I have so far, (know I'm missing hard drives)

Here are the planned uses,

  1. Media (Music + Movies)
  2. Untangle (virtualized)
  3. TeamSpeak + Ventrilo
  4. Seed Box
  5. TF2 + Minecraft Server
  6. Experimenting (if I see something cool)
For those planned uses is what I have sufficient? Do I need a quad core?

Any suggestions for cheaper options would be appreciated.

with the price of quad cores coming down, i wouldn't see why you shouldn't go quad core.

Anything for less cost than what it's currently at with the same (or similar) performance, or anything for the same cost with more performance than what I have currently. I'm pretty happy with the price, but it would be better if I could get it for less.

Really I was just hoping someone would know a coupon code or a combo deal. I'm not really trying to hit any particular number.

here you go:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...679894-_-Combo

if you want to step it up:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...692922-_-Combo
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...693521-_-Combo

A real step up is:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...693521-_-Combo

but it gets more costly.

I would suggest just getting Combo #1 or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.679860

throw it in a cheap case and decent psu and not bad for $320 bucks.

Either of them would them should be able to run all the apps you're looking to do.

Wow, thanks! I don't know how I didn't see that first one before.
