P6T WS Pro - Need More ICH voltage?

Hi

I have got the i7-950 to 4899.08 MHz, but am having problems, i cant drop the ICH Volts to 1.3 it has to be on 1.4, so im on my max ICH volts and think i need more to go higher

But could it just be my ram settings that need fixing

Now a question, if i do need more ICH volts can it be modded? Or do i need to play with the ram more or any other ways around it whats happening?

below the ICH cooler and to the left.. there is a little square black IC... could you read/list the numbers off of it?

*it should be the voltage controller for the ICH circuit.. once I know what #'s it is.. I can reference the pdf and see how to mod.

Hi mate

Its got this on it

If i didnt have the maginfing glass there was no way i would had read that, im fairly sure i got it right but not 100% sure of in the third line, i think its right

Even the old faithfull camera let me down. Zooming in can read a little, not much good

Not the ICS by any chance is it near the crystal, its above the gpu, not quite where you said to look?

There are 2 others there, one readable very small(need to shutdown to read it), one i need to take the mobo out to read its over 1cmx1cm left the bios battery, both near where you suggested

nah..ICS is for FSB/clock control.. you can use SetFSB + your ICS # to OC from Windows...

*gimme a few, having a hard time finding a good pic of the area [preferably without the mobo cooling attached ]

second arrow just touching it at the tip




good pic here, but it is not quite the same, that arrow above no.3 is pointing to a crystal thing, but is a chip on mine about that size

ok.. maybe im a bit confused.. you mentioned RAM, I assumed you were talking about the IOH [in the NB area of the mobo]..

*So you do mean the ICH [Southbridge] that need to mod.. correct? Just want to make sure I am now looking at the correct area of the mobo..

Hi mate

Yeah, the ICH needs more juice, is it not related to ram? And if its not, then north is for ram, but either way its ICH needs more, so i need to look at other settings, to improve the ICH, or can it be modded

Im no pro, but trying to push the bounds of getting better OC, still learning heaps

Ok.. first lets start with measuring to locate the ICH voltage.. this will help narrow down possibilities for mod area.

*Using a MultiMeter- measure for DC voltage on the 2x outer legs of the mosfets in the yellow area... as well as the empty capacitor pad in the red square. You should find ICH voltage in these locations.

..If so, then please list the #'s off if the 3x IC's in the yellow are, marked with a red stripe [as 1x of these is likely responsible for the ICHv].
