AMD PII 965BE C3 bad temps, pls help.... thx

Thread Starter
I have a biiiiig problem, my cpu is running way to hot. I am using the stock cooler over a year and now this.....

IDLE TEMP IS 40C

LOAD TEMP IS 80C

I know the limit is 62C,but why is the CPU still fine at this temp,i mean no restart,no blue screen,no errors at all, works perfect from the first day.
I have this problem now for about 3 weeks ,and want(must) buy a new heatsink......

Do u guys think my CPU is damaged or its still ok?
What is a better choise a Noctua NH-D14 or Corsair H60/H70 for my CPU ?

thx

That's hot. Maybe you need to reapply thermal paste.

In general though, it's best to get an aftermarket cooler. I have the Hyper 212+ which works very well with AMD CPUs as you aren't restricted to the top-down orientation that some coolers force.

If you had to chose between one of those, I would get the Noctua. Make sure you have room for it though.

Is there dust on the stock cooler? The NH-D14 is in the top 2 air cooler.

did you overclock? reapply thermal paste and reseat the heatsink. if it's stock clock, pointless to buy a new hsf since mine cools pretty well 32c idle \\ 55 load
post #6 of 12
first thing to do is try to apply new tim, then reseat the cooler.if this doesn't help then you might have another issue with the cpu. if your not to big into overclocking then just get yourself a nice 212+ or a cpu cooler in that price range.

edit: check your cpu voltage also . and what are you using to monitor temp?

^ what he said.

Make sure you are trying more than 1 program to track your CPU temps. It could be a bug, because 80 degrees would fry that processor.

And try reseating the Heatsink as others have said.

Everything is stock, i reset the cooler 2 times, first 3 -4 weeks did a great job, load temps was not over 50C, then it starts to get hotter and hotter, stock cooler sucks..... could be dust........
