As you likely know by now, the Back to Karkand expansion for Battlefield 3 is free to anyone who pre-orders the game. If you're the cautious type and plan on waiting for reviews and such before considering a purchase, you'll be interested then in the price: $14.99.

I can see why they don't want to give out mod tools now.

Owwww, painful!

I was going to pre-order it anyway, but if I weren't...this'd be a damn shocking incentive.
(as Karkand holds fond memories [though *cough* Wake Island, and Oman, too *cough] )

And that settles it...I guess I have to pre-order. I hate pre-orders...if this game ends up sucking I will <insert appropreiate troll action here>

Well, that's jacked up. Fewer and fewer differences between BF3 and MW3 now ...

Seriously? You're on the fence about the game, and their greed is actually convincing you to pre-order?

It's not about them not wanting to give them to you. They really can not give you all the software to mod their game. It's not like they have a single editor and that's all they need to make a map.

Besides even BF2 didn't have official mod tools afaik.

MW3 - You don't get a free DLC for pre-ordering
MW3 - It sucks comparing to MW1
MW3 - It brings nothing new to the table

BF3 is still miles ahead.

You know I understand BC3 is going to be a pretty big game and all but this EA crap is really pissing me off. Nothing like day one DLC to say our game could have a lot more but were cutting it up and selling it to you in pieces. It's really making me think twice about pre-ordering this game.

That's how Mass Effect 2 was, I swear there is over 200$ in DLC available now. The stand alone game felt like it was missing so much. I felt so ripped off by the fact that there were only 6 or so weapons that came with the game and at launch day there was around 6 DLC packs that included the "missing" gear.

I wish we could all just go back to the good old days of real expansion packs and full games at launch day.
