[NS] Battlefield 3 Karkand expansion priced - Page 5

Anyone that thinks there not going to keep making BF games just like cod if they can make money from it is kidding there self. There's only so much they can do and change, Every company wants money, some more then others. Some companied just like to look more caring and subtle, but there still out for your money. Wouldnt Matter if cod came with 10 maps in a 15$ pack people would still diss it, or if this was 20$ for 1 map people would still like it. Just goes on and on and on. Ill be getting both either way. Just my 0.02 cents

That's how Mass Effect 2 was, I swear there is over 200$ in DLC available now. The stand alone game felt like it was missing so much. I felt so ripped off by the fact that there were only 6 or so weapons that came with the game and at launch day there was around 6 DLC packs that included the "missing" gear.

I wish we could all just go back to the good old days of real expansion packs and full games at launch day.

^ Either way it is pre-ordered on my end, has been for months but still it is a little discouraging. I agree with you man, it can really start to annoy you when a situation like this arises. Just imagine if they sold cars with no windshield but you could grab the windshield extra or pre-order the car and get it free. which would you do? although it isn't absolutely necessary to the function of a road worthy vehicle it kind of feels similar. [ yeah, inspection stickers in the US require it to pass but in North Carolina you can get it away with it ]

Hell, you can drive that way but bugs hitting you in the face at 55 MPH would start to hurt.

Your really using a car analogy. The fact is you do buy cars without options and when you want those fancy options you pay for them. That bose radio cost extra. That 400 hp v8 cost extra. Do you ***** to the salesman "Hey that stuff should be in my 13,000 model" No you don't. The fact is you are getting a full game!!!!!

One more time in bold type caps YOU ARE GETTING A FULL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, they keep giving me more and more reasons to avoid this game. And I was pretty excited about it a month or two ago. But with the Origin only digital sales and this DLC crap, EA is certainly following step right behind Activision. GL HF

Honestly like I said its just a change in the gaming industy and everyone needs to start to realise, more companies see the oppurtunies for money. All the companies that people praized for PC like blizzard is now going to make d3 money earing in game and things like that. More games coming now that you need to be internet connected even to load the game, only one key code, more dlc and less and less free. Some companied may care more but in the end there out to make a profit as you would be too.

The problem with all this day one DLC is people are still buying the games, game boycotts don't work to get the point across when everyone continues to buy them. The big boy companies will continue this crap because it continues to make them money. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know BC3 is going to be AMAZING and OH EM GEEZZZ super bestest FPS, but what about an FPS like Counter-Strike which doesn't do all the same playing with your wallet game and just delivers a game that sticks around through all the CODs and BCs and whatever else comes out. I'm not saying CS is the best FPS but it also doesn't play games with us like COD and now BC3 is, it just upsets me how they are doing this to their customers. I would like to have BC3 but I also don't want to play this game of preorder now or forever pay for DLC =/.

I think it is also because of COD that we feel that if BC releases a large DLC for something like $20 which adds some nice additions to the game while COD releases a $60 piece of crap yearly we can say, well BC is doing the better job for us consumers, which I'd agree on but day one DLC is still not acceptable.

A lot of people miss that fact. It's business. If you had one, you'd try to make more money too.

I'm not all against in-game micro-profiting, such as TF2/Portal 2/Play4Free item sales. It's a nice way for these companies to shut the hell up about piracy and find other ways to increase their revenue. If anything, I support in-game micro-sales over releasing a new rehashed title every year (ahem, COD). I'm one of few that like the idea of Diablo 3 having in-game item auctions. It's a guaranteed easy way for Blizzard to still make money off the game when sales reach a plateau. As an example, Diablo 2 has probably been costing Blizzard millions to keep running, with very little revenue coming in from its players. Diablo 3 in 5-10 years will still be breaking some nice bank for Blizzard from any item auctions, which I'm assuming will work sort of like eBay where Blizzard makes a small cut out of every item sold.

BF3 is still miles ahead.
to be fair you don't know about the 2nd and 3rd point as the game hasnt been released, though I'm fairly certain it will be garbage like the last 5 cod games have been, from what I played and read about BF3 it wont live up to the hype.

I don't understand your logic. Pre-ordering is a gamble for anyone. When you Pre-order, you are purchasing (or putting a down payment on) a game that you have very little idea about whether it will good, bad, or worth your money at all.

At the end of the day, very few people will truly know whether BF3 will be good or not until its released. Remember an Open Beta, or god forbid a closed Alpha, are not Demos for the game, and are never a good representation of the game. If you love the closed Alpha, that doesn't mean you will love the retail game. So much can change. Also at the end of the day, if you like the Alpha, as an Alpha build, you would likely not if it where the release state of the game.

Forcing people to Pre-order and gamble their money to get an overpriced map pack (that is already in development and looks incredibly like a money grab DLC) for free, is not okay. Not to mention a lot of people could fail to find out about this offer, just out of bad luck, and end up being asked to pay and extra $15 down the road.

While there is truth to this, it is NOT a license to gouge the consumer. At the end of the day it can happen, but there always must be a happy medium. There are ethics in business, despite what most companies portray.

On this we agree. If the Micro transactions are not "purchasable power" as in Diablo 3, from what we know now, then I absolutely support this.

Of course, in theory I don't mind CoD's model either. Its the quality of each year's installment being relatively the same every year that bothers me.

Define "full game". I could argue that BF3, with 1 map, 1 gun, and only 1v1 is a full game. I mean, it's perfectly playable. If we all roll over and tell them it's fine and dandy, they'll slowly lop more and more features off new releases. I mean, why wouldn't they, they're in the business of making money, and they could certainly make a lotta money that way.

I look at the move to "give" the pre-orderers "extras" as an acknowledgement by EA that their game blows, and there's no way in hell anybody would want to buy it after they learn what a pitiful piece of crap it is, so they're trying to sucker people into buying now.
