TW2 was good but short. Seriously, the last chapter felt like it was barely worked on, the game has only a few mods that don't add much, and CDProjekt hasn't released anything new for TW2 recently.

Not bringing whether its good or bad here, I meant its so taken care of in every detail, and they removed the DRM for sake of the players to enjoy a less laggy game, the updates are adding up a few contents but not much, though in their forums they discuss with the community what should be added in every update. Comparing to another game like da2, if they have taken da2 as an example to follow (which i'm afraid EA is trying to do with Battlefield 3 here, a 4 map pack for 15$ where did i hear that before? hence bringing the whole witcher topic), would've been ****.

tl;dr EA don't mess BF3 up.

Bastards.

Those who remember the days of substantial $30 EXPANSION PACKS sold about a year after original release will be disgusted by this kind of blatant cash-grab.

In fact, everyone was disgusted when ever-popular punching bag Infinity Ward did it. But DICE and Valve and Bethesda and Bioware are the sacred cows of the moment, so they are given passes.

Isn't this an expansion pack not a map pack?

June 21, 2005: BF2 is released

5 months later: November 21, 2005 Special Forces is released
4 months later: March 14, 2006: Euro forces is released
3 months later: June 6, 2006: Armored Fury is released

Learn your history before you whine.

BF2 still had mods created by the community. DICE never released a BF2 SDK or mod tool.

Are any of you fooled into thinking that this is sane? They are charging $15 for nearly day one DLC, meaning content that they chose to sell to you instead of put in the game itself. Do you really think that this expansion is anything more than content that they are choosing to sell at a later date? Sure they give it for free if you pre-order, but that IS NOT A GIFT. This is insidious and evil just like what Activision pulls, but most people in this thread don't care.

And its not just that. What about the BS exclusives, which give extra power to certain players solely based on where they purchased the game from? These exclusives aren't skins, they are fully unique guns. What about the online pass? Its suddenly okay for EA to try and get a cut of the money in the used market, and more likely kill all resale value of their games so they are purchased new, when no other form of media is allowed the same privilege (DVDs, CDs, Books, exct.), just because the name on the box is Battlefield? I mean they even gave the most BS reason possible for it.

Look I understand if you still buy BF3. My moral compass tells me that I will not because of these things, and I truly believe that none of you should, but I'm not going act like my opinion is fact or more valid than yours on this matter. However, please acknowledge what they are doing, and acknowledge that it is evil so that there is at least some consequence to their actions.

Honestly, MW3 will get my money before BF3. And that's not a reflection of the quality of games, but a reflection on how evil this BS is, and I dislike the CoD series.
TBH these map packs/expansions are less like cod map packs and more like an expansion in their own right, with their own unlocks, guns, vehicles. This is more like BC2 vietnam. These "cash-grabs" are substantial enough to wager the price in most cases. It's not like the same with CoD where the engine hasn't changed substantially since 2007 that the old maps take a lot of work to code in, its substantially more work to recreate these maps from a very dated engine to one with full destruction, lighting etc. (i.e BF2 --> BF3) as well as port in the old weapons and vehicles.

The exclusive guns have already been confirmed to release after the game launches. And the online-pass, well, I dunno about you, but when I go into stores, I always see a large pre-owned collection of games and no collection of other media; that would suggest to me that the pre-owned game market is larger, therefore more money lost through it or whatever.

Most of the ME/DA dlc can go die in a fire though. Horrible value for money. As is most day-one DLC but with this one I can understand that more work went into them than with most DLC's.

What's the big deal?

They said it will be the "Call of Duty killer", so naturally it's going to use the same money grubbing techniques.

Same reason 13 year old chavs will pay 200 dollars for a pair of shoes and 100 dollars for a bag. Because it's brandname.
