Grandfathered Data Plans?

I've got a MyTouch Slide 3G unlimited data plan, and if I go ahead and buy a T-Mobile USA Samsung Hercules, which has the HSPA+ 42 MBps connection, then could I just use my old sim and still get the super fast connection?

Or buy a new sim, update it, but still not extend my contract? Go month to month? Or would I require a new "internet plan"?

You'll be able to keep your plan. Don't let T-Mobile tell you otherwise.

I've heard that certain data plans will work with 3g speeds, but not LTE/WiMax/HSPA+ speeds. And if you want the faster speeds, you must "upgrade".
