i5-2500k temps

Thread Starter
I did a search, didn't find much in relation to my situation.

Tossed the multiplier up to 40x. Running @ 4011Ghz. My average idle temp is around 29-30c. Using Corsair A70. I haven't had much of a chance to really push this chip further, but will try.

Question is, are these about average idling temps? I was wondering if anyone had an input on what the temps should be if at 100% load too.

Looks really good to me. I get idle temps of 32-34C (at stock) and 34-36C (at 4.5GHz). As long as they are in the mid to low 30s (the lower the better), you are fine.

How are your load temps?

EDIT: Load temps should be under 70C. @4.0GHz I would guess temps of low to mid 60s at full load.
EDIT2: Load temps should never exceed 90C. The theoretical maximum for all Sandy Bridge CPUs is 98C but that differs from batch (my 2600K may OC better than your 2500K, or vice versa due to non-perfect manufacturing). I don't like my temps going over 70C while gaming but when stress testing don't mind. And 80C+ gives me heartburn.

I dont think anyone cares about idle temperatures here, it's mostly load temperatures that are important.
As long the idle isn't in ridiculously high area like 60c, it'll be all fine.
Also in UEFI, the CPU temp is higher than windows idle temp.
So if you see 50c in UEFI, it's all fine.
It's the load temp that we are fighting against....since this is Overclock.net

60C is not high for Intel, and I'm pretty sure 80C is nothing near dangerous for 2500/2600.

The reason I was wondering about idle temps is because I wanted to know if I should re-adjust my heatsink or apply some more paste. It seems my temps are on par.

I didn't run a stress test but I've seen them go to 40 on all four cores at the highest (Multiple games & running). Which is still cooler than my Phenom I 9950 was running on stock.
