G35 is a solid headset.. but not for its retail price. There is nothing "elitist" about wanting the best sound for your money. How anyone can bring "elitism" into recommending JVCs, I can't understand.
It is comparable to headphones of nearly the exact same price, giving very similar sound signatures.

The OCN audio elitist instantly states that any USB driven headphone is crap. They obviously have no idea what they are talking about, especially when we have some sexy DACs that are USB powered.

Derp he derp.

The OP only has a budget of $100 (and he preferably wants to stay around $50 or so) and you want him to get a DAC??? I mean, I know there are some pretty cheap DAC's out there, but with that kind of budget, it just seems more worthwhile to put all his into money a nice set of headphones.

Oh, and the "audio elitist" instantly states that any USB driven headphone is crap because nobody mentioned a DAC in this thread up until that point and people were assuming that the OP isn't going to get one. The fact is that analog wins every time vs. USB without a DAC. Take that snobby attitude elsewhere. It's not welcome here...

Thread Starter
I'm ordering the AHT-AD700's as soon as I get back from the vacation I'm taking next week. They seem like the right choice based on their "soundstage" thingy. They also seem like they'll be comfortable for long periods of wear. When it boils down to it, I was looking for something comfortable with which I could locate enemies in game.
