Have you tried replacing the CCFL backlights?

(Or were they replaced when you purchased a new LCD panel?)

I am having the same issue in a SONY LED model... I have got a new LED LCD same dimness and a new motherboard is on the way..

If the screen continues to be dim is it possible something with the power adapter not sending enough power? I mean.. I don't know I recently had an HP where I replaced the motherboard and CPU 2x and RAM 2x and it still wouldn't work.

Laptops suck

Yeah this is my first hurdle since I started repairing computers in general that I have been honestly confused and lost as to what it might be, with no signs of a solution.

As far as the power, it might be ? the original charger died, so I have been using a universal charger.

Which I guess could be the issue ?

but then wouldn't it not be dim when just running on battery ?

I suppose. If you have swapped LCD, LCD wire, inverter, motherboard there's nothing left ..

it was refurbished, I bought it off ebay, the seller had over 2k feedback and 99% positive feedback. I still doubt that it was fully functional, but no way to prove it.
