EDIT: @Modus: Maybe you should post a pic that is not downscaled so you can see the spot better.

EDIT 2: My camera is 2 months out of warranty, I hope they still do it as if it were under warranty. :-) They even told me to send them my receipt, because Canon sometimes does it like that haha

I'm gunna go outside and take a few shots in RAW with a large res format( was shooting in small with jpeg fine).

I'm probably not gunna service it just yet. I'll try living with it and if it continues to bug me then i'll go in. I'm never gunna hear the end of this from my parents though :/

IIRC, Nikon as a one year warranty. I'd just get it serviced. It's better than figuring out that you actually can't live with it once your warranty expires. If you think your parents are going to be on your case now, wait til that happens.

I'm wrong then; probably is two years. I'm a Canon shooter myself so my knowledge of other brands' warranties is a little iffy. Nevertheless, I'd get that fixed when it's still under warranty and repairs are still free. Sensor repairs can get costly quick.

After taking s ome sample shots in RAW a nd jpeg, the dot only appears on darker subjects and is basically invisable in colourful images.

I'm going to keep it as is for now.

EDIT: good to know there is a service centre an hour away from me.

At the end of the day, you've paid for the camera and expect it to work perfectly, if it's not, RMA it under warranty.

Better to do it now than wait and shell out $$ later for repairs.

That's what I thought too.
Too bad I AM already out of warranty haha. If only I had seen the spots earlier...
I had these spots for more than a year now and didn't even see them before, but now I see them all the time...

I'm quite OCD about pretty much anything, I can't stand those 3 spots on my images AT ALL, they make me mad

Bring it to the service center, repairs on DSLRs can get quite expensive...

I exchanged the first D90 I got due to 2 stuck pixels on the back LCD. The guy at the camera shop was an older gentlemen who had bad eyesight. I felt like such a dick when he had to bust out his loupe to even see the pixels I was talking about. Point is, I paid good money for the camera, and I wanted it to be 100% especially since it was only a week after I bought it.

edit: OP just posted that he was out of warranty already. That sucks.
All I could think short of the service center, is capture NX allows you to take a reference photo for dust control, maybe it would pick up that pixel and map it out of your photos as if it was a spec of dust.

You said it is only like 3 months old, your warranty lasts longer then that.
