Tablet for University - Page 2

Windows tablets are expensive though, and other alternatives to Honeycomb tablets are either the BB Playbook, iPad, and HP TouchPad. And Honeycomb generally does feel like a miniaturized and streamlined Windows, at least in the filesystem department. For light note-taking, a Transformer would be fine. Though I agree that for large papers and other intensive projects, best stick to a powerful notebook or desktop.

Drop by the Acer forum here. There's a bunch of W500 user hanging out:

http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/acer/

The W500 run pretty much everything you can throw at it that you would normally do on a PC (a bit slower at times). It also have a ATI 6250 built-in on the CPU which will give you much better mutli-media performance than the ASUS.

The Keyboard dock is handy when you really have to type up a bunch of stuff and the onscreen keyboard and hand writing recognition is pretty good for simple note taking. Nothing in the Android world will come close to the W500's performance and ease of use coming from a PC person, don't have to worry about converting file format or finding 3rd party program that allow you to do things that you can normally do on a PC.
