Way too much crying in this thread.

Did I get into the alpha? Nope. Do I care? Nope. Do I care I didn't get a free game? Nope.

I cant wait for BF3, but I can think of better things to do than cry about not getting a free game for playing a very early version of a game that was probably nothing like the final product will be. In fact, laughing at everyone in this thread was a better use of my time.

It's almost like getting a reward for getting a reward.

That's not what alphas or betas are about. And if you consider it as such, you shouldn't be allowed in the alpha or beta to begin with. It's about playing the game in order to give feedback to the developer.
Sure, it may be a perk to the whole thing, but you're forgetting a ton - like for example that the game barely worked and had terrible graphics for instance.

Alpha players probably had data collected from them, there was a detailed survey to fill out, and alpha players stressed their servers. All Alpha players got an email requesting them to play during a certain time period at one once in order to stress the servers. Apparently, this worked successfully and DICE got what they wanted.

The Alpha Trial has been a resounding success. We were able to perform a number of server-related tests, including load testing our back end

Why not reward the Alpha players for doing what they were supposed to do? To be sour over something like this is just plain sad, and you don't even have a proper argument against it.

They just don't like people that don't read threads.

Seriously, what the hell are you upset about? You can get this deal. Click on the link. It's yours to be had. Upset about not getting an alpha invite? BFD. Lots of people missed out on that, and it wasn't that great. No squad spawning made attacking worthless.

Can someone change the thread title to "Alpha Testers informed of free deal that anyone can use"

It was random. I had a couple of rounds where it worked, but most of the time I played it didn't work. Overall it wasn't that great. I didn't play the final weekend. They may have fixed it by then.

I didnt play the final weekend either. In fact, I sadly missed almost an entire week of the alpha but when I did play I played a ton to try and make up for lost time.

Anyways, regardless of the squad spawn, you're correct - the alpha was not special and definitely needs some fixing. No one missed out on anything. It's not something to be sore about and it was lucky to even be a big and publicly-loud alpha as it was.

Why not reward the Alpha players for doing what they were supposed to do? To be sour over something like this is just plain sad, and you don't even have a proper argument against it.

Yeah I guess I do not have a good argument against this free games move and I'm glad for the people that are getting them. But I'm just criticizing the way EA decided to handle the whole alpha when it comes to invites and people getting in.

I know what alphas and betas are for. But you can't deny that for some people playing the alpha would have been a nice experience. Get too see the unfinished game and get to experience some of the feel it's going to have. Of course it's not ready and the main purpose is to test servers, sort out bugs etc.

The thing is that the guys participating really didn't have to do anything. I wasn't in the alpha but as far as I know (some friends got in) they didn't have to fill out a survey, or actually do anything. They got an email asking to play at a specific time for stress testing the servers or something along those lines, and even then I doubt even 50% of the guys that played the alpha participated in the stress test.

I do not know why but sometime EA decided that it was a good idea to invite random people to the alpha and I seriously can't think why. I would think that it might have been a good idea to invite guys who've played BF before, or actually guys who'll have a computer able to run the game ( I know guys who had intel igps and still reclaimed the alpha code...). What I would have wanted to see is a different invite system. I think EA would have had a much better alpha testing crowd if people were allowed to ask to be included in the testing crowd. Maybe this way they would have got more feedback and a better stress test.

So because EA just decided to go random with the invites some of the people who would really have liked to be helpful in the alpha never had any chance of getting an invite. Yes of course some good BF fans and nice players got in, but many, many alpha codes went to people who just could care less about the game. I just do not think that's a good way to arrange a test, and on top of that some of the BF fans were left feeling disappointed that they did not get in.
