Hi guys, I need some help deciding on which one to get.
Right now I have 3 options.
1. Creative Sound Blaster Tactic3D Sigma Gaming Headset, $35 (read reviews and the ratings are better than the Razer Megalodon. But I don't know if the ratings really matter.)

2. Razer Megalodon, $35

3. Just get a microphone and stick with my Sony headphones.
(picture of my headphones, you are going to laugh :

Thanks OCN,

EDIT: I'm going to use the headset to play games (MW2, Dirt 3, etc.).

I think those headphones came with a walkman I bought in 1998.

Razer is nice.

HEADSETS

Hey, it seems you have started a thread asking for help buying headsets so you can talk to your guild while you play WoW. This is a helpful guide to bluntly state some of the finer points.

Let me get this out of the way quickly, straight up NEVER BUY A HEADSET. You may be asking, "Why?!" since virtually every uneducated fool has one. Well good thing I'm here, so I can teach you up.

Headsets are inherently a horrible idea because they combine piss poor headphones with a piss poor microphone and cost significantly more then they would cost separately, and I stress the significant part, its a joke. Not only do you get worse quality for the price, but because you are combining garbage parts with cheap wiring they are much more likely to break, and when they do, are harder to fix.

What you do want: A set of good headphones (depends on your budget), and a cheap desk mic. Personally, and many others on this forum will support this, I have the ATH AD700's. Great set of all around phones, perfect for listening to music and playing video games. They got decent bump, nothing that will blow you away, but their sound stage is incredible. They are open air though, so they do have some leakage.

Surround Sound... Since you have asked for headset help, it is also very likely that one of your criteria is that the headset you get recommended be Surround Sound because you think that will improve your piss poor kdr. First things first, you suck, accept that you are terrible at FPS games and move on. nothing will help that, no matter how much money you throw at it, I will always whoop that ass. But secondly, while the fact that it won't make you better is irrelevant, what is relevant is that fact that actual surround sound in headphones (putting multiple cheap drivers, all less then a half an inch from your ear) is only a gimmick, and a poor one at that. Not just a "oh it costs a lot and isn't that good" kind of gimmick. It actually adds NOTHING to your experience, gives you surround sound that can be less accurate then virtual surround sound with 2.0 headphones, and gives you significantly worse sound quality for the price, since you have very cheap drivers (there are 7 of them), and a cheap brand

If you still aren't convinced...lol go buy a razer, fatality, logitech, steelseries, turtle beach, etc and everytime you pick up those pieces of garbage I hope you are reminded of my post and your asinine decision.

I actually need a microphone to use on Teamspeak and stuff.
So I thought might as well just get a headset and upgrade my sound system too.

Yeah, it's called getting the RX700 and getting a separate mic. Not hard.

A separate mic is about 5 bux...and it will be the same quality as those used in a headset.

I bought mine at best buy about 10 years ago for $6.50 and it is still working fine today.
