On the earlier Spawn, like I have, the mousefeet had sharp squared off edges, and stand just a few 1/10ths of a millimeter taller than the mousefeet contoured "sockets" on the bottom of the mouse. Just curious if the newer mousefeet are maybe thicker than the old ones, since the mousefeet are something that we know was changed old vs. new. Just saying, thicker feet could change the focus of the sensor on the surface and maybe adversely affect tracking. Still trying to find a logical reason, why you're not getting the same results as me and a few other satisfied users, who mostly seem to have the earlier version. You're not the only one reporting tracking issues now, so it's probably not just a fluke or a single flaky mouse, something must have changed in CM's production, and the mousefeet just came to mind.

I'm traveling ATM, and don't have access to my Spawn, to actually measure my mousefeet with calipers, just stating from memory, how thick they appeared. Having to use a crappy Dell mouse with my Dell laptop from work now, (bleh!!!), thank God I don't have to game with it, it's barely up to office tasks. I'll check my Spawn's mousefeet, when I get back home later this week from my trip.

I can't get an exact measurement because the package is already labeled and sealed ready to hit the post office tomorrow on the way back to CM. I don't remember the feet snagging or anything so the feet were probably the new rounded version. The feet weren't very thick, I would say they are average or just a little thicker than the thin crap razer puts on their DA.

So, refund or replacement? Sounds like you're at least still willing to give a replacement mouse a fair shake. Let's hope CM gets it right this time. The old feet were rather scratchy and draggy on cloth, until they got broken in, which took me the better part of a week (usually daily light browsing, plus 2-3 hours BFBC2 per night, and 2-3 hours of Rift per week). The edges had very sharp corners, that would dig into the mousepad, but at least the skate glide surfaces were dead-flat, no bulging, bubbling or shifting and getting raised edges. They're still dead-flat, three+ months later, but the sharp corners are long gone and the glide is as smooth as anything else I've ever used. If you'd had the original skates, there's no way you'd not have noticed the scratchiness, unless you were using a hard mousepad.

Refund. The mouse tracked perfectly without jitter at 1800 CPI as long as I didn't reach its low perfect control speed. That fact tells me that my spawn wasn't a lemon and I wouldn't want a replacement that has the same flaws. Trying it out a second time means paying for more shipping and if I get the same flaws MORE shipping for the return and a second restocking fee.

I have a g9x and the spawn, the spawn definitely has the more comfortable shape. The ring finger rest is really nice as are the rubber sides. Its basically a perfect shape. g9 can feel pretty awkward, no real place for the ring finger to go.

As for weight, g9 is fine if you don't lift off. The mouse is pretty damn heavy even without weights while the spawn is very light.

I have the Roccat Kone [+] which is nice for fingertip gripping - thats how i hold the mouse, it has a lot of features and an "easyshift" key which allows all buttons to have 2 bindings like shift on a keyboard, 5600DPI if you need it plus some good software for customisation. Im not so sure on build quality though, i may have been unlucky but the middle click started to go when i first got it, but its okay now?

To chime in, I had the old, non-rounded feet on my spawn, and didn't have jitter. I did still have the perfect control speed issue.

Chances are I'll go pick up a Deathadder at Best Buy down the road and I'll return it if I don't like it. If I'm not satisfied with it I'll try the Xai, if Steelseries/newegg/tigerdirect ever get them in stock this year.

Xai more than likely isn't going to get restocked. Ever. Their new Mouse 1.1 is using the Xai body, and theyre probably creating a lack of Xai's on the market so people will flood do their Mouse 1.1's when they hit shelves. Then again that might not be so bad as the colors/specs/body are quite nice.

I was thinking that as well, which is why I was going to pick up the DA.
I could always pick up mice around town and use them for ~20 days and return them until that mouse is released or I find a worthy substitute. smile.gif

CM Storm Spawn. Amazing ergonomics for fingertip grip. I've had no issues with the sensor playing SC2 at the high masters level. Using it on a Handstands supermat (best bang/buck pad out there IMO). The tactile action on the two main buttons is really pleasant.
