Edit: Those specs tell me nothing of the 595s sound signature. OP: headphone.com's a great place to get an idea for that stuff. Head-Fi too, but you can get lost for days in there. Proceed with caution...look how much confusion we've created for you on an Overclock forum!!

Lol! The 580/600/650's most definitely do not mess themselves or slop about! However, they will sound more laid back, more tame, less in your face than a more forward pair like Grados.
I'm leaning towards some Beyers given your choice in music. Either the 880s or 990s depending on whether you like a curve in your frequency tastes. 880s are more neutral than 990s.
They will serve you well for gaming because of their comfort level, something the AT a900s simply cannot match.
You might look into a pair of Ultrasones too. Iirc, they do well without an amp. Fwiw, I didn't care for a pair my friend had...too...boring? I wish I could remember the model...ill ask.
I would recommend going for the higher ohm versions of any of these. People like to exaggerate the need for an amp. Its still going to sound good, just not as good as it can sound. But this way you have the option of an overall better experience once you do find that amp of your life...oh it will be so sweet when you blow on her t00bs for the very first time...Edited by Jodiuh - 8/7/11 at 4:27pm
