Nothing blew up... am I okay? I didn't get a BSOD, everything actually ran smooth.

That's because Folding@home went into a lower core priority. Does that automatically. biggrin.gif

I do it all the time when I fold during winter. All it does is use more CPU don't think it can really cause anything bad to happen.

Folding is set to only take the unused clock cycles. I do have problems with it though, the GPU client causes even video to get choppy and my game like to have random freezes if im CPU folding.

(Insert college lecture about computer operating systems and the process stack)

@ Scrappy yeah I just turn off folding when I game or watch video/movie because of similar issues

Won't hurt a thing. In fact it was designed so that it will not interfere with anything else if you want to run something. If you get choppy gaming with gpu folding, either turn it off our simply set the games.exe to a higher priority than the folding client from the task manager.

Cool cool cool. Infact, I don't get any difference in gaming quality thumb.gif

+1 all!

LOL, I dread it when I do that! MY oc's are much higher for F@H than gaming can handle. It's usually a pretty fast Lockup! lachen.gif

I folded for a few days on my 580 to give it and my PSU a good test (jumped like 700 places in rank here on OCN too...will definately have it run for the next Chimp).

I was using the GPU3 client and I noticed i never seemed to be able to fully shut it off. If I paused it then it would be fine, but if I exited it or killed the f@h process my GPU usage would jump from 0-5% and I would always have 30MB of VRAM being used. If I started a game it would be really choppy and low on the FPS. Only way to clear it out was to restart...which I didn't deem that big of an issue. The GPU3 client is not guaranteed to work flawlessly or anything. I think the "high performance" clients are technically beta yet, but I am not folding expert of course.

Infact, It was better for me to game with it running than to shut it off and not restart. Even though whatever was going was using so little of the cards resources it was enough to screw up its gaming performance.
