How to prioritize GPU and CPU in BOINC

Thread Starter
I am currently running Collatz Conjecture on my 570, and it also gives me CPU projects. Well, I want to do Aqua@Home on my CPU, so how do I stop CC from using my CPU? Also, does CC support my 9800GT? Cause I am trying to get that setup to work as well. I did the cc_config.xml file to use all my GPUs, but it doesn't seem to be using my 9800GT.

This guide should help you out with running Collatz exclusively on your GPU.

Collatz most definitely supports your 9800GT. There have been confirmations before that you may have to plug a display into the 9800GT or create one of those dummy adapters before BOINC can use it.

Thanks! That got my CC working how I wanted to do it, and yes, my 9800GT works. I just put the config file in the wrong folder
But Aqua@Home won't do anything. I'm not getting any projects from them. I went thought the preferences thing for that too and told it to only use my CPU, and as far as I can tell I have the BOINC manager set to use my computer 100% all of the time. Any pointers?

I just switched to Milkyway@home instead for CPU. Last update from AQUA was they were going offline for the weekend back in July or something, other than that no clue.

May I interest you in our projects of the month? Click the " August 2011 Projects of The Month" in my sig and crunch those while Aqua gets back to its normal form.

I'd advise against CPU MilkyWay@Home. It's much more beneficial to get a GPU running on that over a CPU.

there is heaps of cool projects out there that don't put a lot of stress on things that run on the CPU (run in the background 1-5% power) so are worth looken into like freeHAL@home and WUProp@home
