Workstation Graphics Card Decision

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I need some help picking out the right graphics card for what I do.
I just completed my first build (check out my comp specs below) and I was told that the Galaxy GT430 I grabbed at Best Buy ($84) was not compatible and made the system crash when trying to install it's driver. So I am bound for Bust Buy to return it to get my money back. (which reminds me: do I need to install the driver for the new graphics card b4 I pop out the GT430? the p67 has no on-board graphics..)

Let me explain my dilemma: I'm not sure if I should get an expensive Nvidia Quadro card like the fx1800, 600, or 2000. (the quadro 2000 is a little out of my budget..) Or should I go for a regular consumer gaming card (maybe the gtx460??) My dad believes that a consumer card can out perform a professional card with sheer brunt ...could this be true?

I am an architecture student and use programs like Adobe CS5, Rhinoceros 3ds, and AutoCad. I'm looking for a graphics card that will perform the best with these programs as well as any other programs I may come to use in the future. I just don't want any slowing down when I'm rotating a large 3d model lets say. I am not a professional...just a student so I'm wondering if the Quadro 2000 would be unnecessary for what I am currently doing. Will a regular ol' gamer card be better?? $300 is my max budget. Any suggestions are much obliged

I love ATI and for 230$ you can get a ATI HD 6950, it will do more than the job on your PC
