Spread spectrum shouldn't be disabled, it's not like overclocking the older cpu's. Spread spectrum can be beneficial to your stability and it's been reported that it can help stabalize voltage fluctuations. Leave LLC on Ultra High and make sure all the safety features are turned on, C1E and speedstep,

One other change you should make if you havn't already, is select AUTO for C3 and C6 report in the bios under CPU configuration. That should help against unwanted / random and idle BSODs.

Hope that helps thumb.gif

EDIT:

As long as your Voltage does not rise under LOAD and it is as close to what you set it in the BIOS then you are good to go. LLC is there to compensate the level of vdroop under LOAD, different settings can allow different levels to work out the level of vdroop and then compensate it. Usually and nearly everyone that uses Asus 1155 mobo's use Ultra high LLC as it is currently the best one to do the job.

Auto could be off or on lol, there should be an option to enable it.

No worries happy to help biggrin.gif

LLC to ultra high

Problem spotted. Tone it down. LLC is primarily for subzero runs where voltage can droop no matter how high you set it, LLC helps combat that. Really not needed for air/water cooling, tone it down to about half.

Also enable EIST if your overclock is stable, but disable C states. Your CPU will now clock down at idle and reduce voltage at idle.

Absolutely no need for 4ghz/5ghz at idle.

Also turn spread spectrum off.

did you read the whole thread?

who said LLC is for subzero runs?

why turn off spread spectrum?

Why disable c-states?

Yes

Because most boards are advertised as extreme overclocking, water and air is not extreme

Because I've been told to do so by people on this forum

Prevent idle bugs/bsods

LLC is a feature that is used by all rounders depending on the level of vdroop that particular mobo has, it is not aimed at specific users. It is there to help compensate the level of vdroop for all those that overclock.

Spread spectrum shouldn't be disabled, it can help stability and voltage fluctuation. For sandybridge it is recommended to leave that on unless you are messing around with the BCLK.

C-states reports more specifically C1E is there to help the multi drop along with speedstep. Both of these enabled have not had any adverse affect on overclocking with sandybridge, therefore, it is recommended to leave it on.

C3 and C6 Report are actually a little weird, generally those should be left on AUTO or DISABLED if you are using OFFSET voltage.

Remember overclocking is a little different now with sandybridge, what use to effect overclocks back then aint the same now.

Thread Starter
I was experimenting with LLC @ high, and tried to run LINX, but the test failed at once, because from 1.43@ BIOS, i dropped to 1.42 during idle/load and i got BSOD 101, so i tought lets get back to utra high because other then the spikes at idle i was almost fully stable with it @ load, OCCT/LINX/AIDA 64 etc.

But what is happening now is this,

I set LLC to ultra high in BIOS.
I set manual VRM switching to 350.
I set extreme phase control.
I set extreme duty.
I set cpu PLL @ 1.700 same like before when i was stable.
I set Spread Spectrum to enabled.
I set Dram voltage/ferq to specs.
I set turbo to 48x.
I set cpu current to 130%
C3,C6 Speedstep etc are all on/auto.

And this is what i get when i start LINX, idle vcore is 1.432, same as before when i had the spikes, but with one change.

NOW the vcore change from 1.432@ idle to 1.424 during start of the load, and it BSOD in less then 15 seconds... my LLC NOW spikes down during load, befreo was 1.432/1.440 now is 1.432/1.424 and even 1.416 frown.gif it dosent even come close to 1.43xx this is totally frustraiting! mad.gif

I tried optimized defaults, clear cmos, get into BIOS, and started from scratch, still the same BSOD, vcore drop....@ start of the load, from 1.43 in BIOS to 1.424 and even 1.416! so LINX test BSOD at once....any help would be highly appericated.

I believe it's like that for everyone. I'm messin with an 4.9 overclock right now and my vcore variate from 1.456, 1.464 to 1.472. LLC is set to 3. Don't know what it corresponds to on an Asus board. I guess High.
