I7 2600K (ME4) big voltage spike during idle (LLC ultra high) - Page 3

I was using OCCT/LINX, i know they are not the best from testing, but they both passed without a hitch, AIDA 64 also.

Now i get BSOD in less then 15 seconds, i changed LLC from ultra to high, and thats all, all of the other settings are same, After that my load voltage fluctate alot more then before, (even when i get back to Ultra High) when i was stable with Ultra high i had 1.440 at idle, and 1,432 @ load, with it, but my idle voltage spiked a bit and i tried to change it, after that now load is 1.424/1.416 frown.gif and till i got to 1.432 i already get BSOD frown.gif

Edit: I did change cpu current from 140% to 130% and VCCIO i increased a bit, but this should not affect load vcore as far as i know frown.gif

If you're getting a bsod just up your vcore bit by bit till you're stable then tweak down from there.

EDIT:try under clocking your ram to 1600.

every little change that you make, would make a difference.

Decreasing the LLC = less load voltage.


change CPU current back to 140% and leave VCCIO to around 1.1250v.

As you said LinX/ OCCT are not the best stability testers, I would recommend prime blend. I stess that when you find an overclock that is working make sure you save it or write it down somewhere.

Also when you change something in the BIOS make sure you make changes one at a time, that way you would know which is making a different and which is not.

Leave Ultra high LLC and start using prime blend as a stability tester. Make sure the safety features are set the way I explained in the previous posts. Error 101 means more VCORE and Error 124 is QPI/VTT (VCCIO) but can also be VCORE as well.

Thanks for the answers guys.

My ram is rated to 2100mhz, i got only 1 stick atm, the 8GB kit should be here in 2 days (so im on backup now)

Still the problem is big vcore flucation like i got LLC set to High instead of Ultra high, i need to fix this but dunno how, will try with ram at 1600, before i was rock stable at that voltage, because vcore didnt fluctate so much @load and it was stable, now it goes down alot...this is what is causing the BSOD's i believe.

Edit: i Tried to Ultra high, the issues i posted in the previous post where both on Ultra and High LLC, so basiacally now im not stable even on Ultra at same vcore, like before (when i get stable clock) because the vcore drops alot at load, like it is High LLC not ultra...i had exactly same fluctation/numbers with high LLC like i get now with Ultra high, like it is bugged and stucked on high

I will try to change the settings like you tell me and report back when i came back home, thanks again.

I know you keep on saying rock solid stable, however, what you must understand is that you used something that doesn't really indicate stability that well. LLC at ultra high should not really spike the voltage and should be enough for when it is under load and idle, that's only if your vcore is right for your overclock. I say right because it may not be enough for your overclock, I don't know.

Voltage fluctuations are normal and not consistant, so what you had before may not be exactly the same, with things like this there are anomalies, but what it trully comes down to is stability and whether or not the voltage is enough for your overclock, which is kinda looking like it is NOT.


EDIT:

Maybe the voltage is enough but the chip doesn't 'like' that particular multi have you tried 4.7ghz with the same settings?

Yea man its just an example, i know its not rock stable but it was alot more stable then now, with 95% same settings, i'm sure my LLC is broken/bugged in some way, or maybe its BIOS corruption, when i get home i will try you settings/changes, but i wonder what could cause so big change in terms of vdrop, its like i use High LLC instead of Ultra, when i start LINX i see 1.424, instead 1.432 like before, and it stays at that for like 20 seconds, and BSOD. Before it was only 1.432/1.440 and that is, it never went to 1,416 or 1424 (during load)

Anyway will post back, when i come home i might reinstal the OS again, that helped alot before.

@ MGX1016 True, thats exactly what i think, that causing the instabillity for sure, now if i only could change this, before it was good with Ultra high, now its not.

LOL i just came back home, re-run the same tets, OCCT/LINX and they pass like nothing, rofl...i mean what? how is this even possible?

And yes the vdrop was again the same from 1.43 set in BIOS it went down to 1.424/1.416 during load.....go figure : /
