Stuffing 600mm of radiator into a Lian Li PC-V1200

We start off here because I misplaced my mem card somewhere with the pics of the MCR320 install, but it's fairly basic though, not missing much there.

Anyways, I picked up this fairly good condition V1200 of craigslist for 100 bucks, score. Setup is MCR320 in the top, RS120 in the back, and currently just finished putting a MCR120QP I just got this afternoon from Canis-X into the front bottom.

I don't use the bottom drive cages since that's where the rad and the pump/res go. The drives were relocated using a Lian Li EX-332B mesh front drive cage thingy. These are sweet because the mesh pattern matches the V1000/2000 series perfectly.

I originally went with a Biostar TP67XE but the spacing was wrong for SLI in the space constraint I had in regards to the MCR320. That's when I bought a used P67 WS Revo, which while a bit overkill... ok a lot overkill lol, but it is the only board that has pcie 1 and 2 right next to each other in 1155. The cards are running x8/x8, but they fit this way with the rad inside instead of outside the case.

I got these FC580 blocks cheap from H4rd5tyl3. The nickel is corroded and I'm getting them re-plated soon. However in between the plating and the media blasting, I have to resurface the copper, ie. polish out the horrific EK tool markings which prevented the nickel from sealing the copper in the first place. I don't need EN plating, just needed proper machining lol.

*I still need to modify this rheobus I got from franz, to look like the one on my 700D. I paint the LEDs and file a small pinhole to let light thru. I do this because otherwise I go blind from the searing light.

p1070798u.th.jpg

*Speaking of sli... the RS120 fit is tight to say the least. I padded the card with electrical tape and had to shave the sli connector down so it would fit on.

p1080140x.th.jpg

Here's the MCR120QP getting prepped for it's tight fitting home.

p1080135f.th.jpg

p1080134u.th.jpg

Oops, won't fit.

p1080143b.th.jpg

p1080142.th.jpg

Dremel a notch off and hammer the panel up a wee bit. Hmm, this pic under here didn't come out so great.

p1080146g.th.jpg

p1080148.th.jpg

p1080149e.th.jpg

Pic with 600mm of rads installed internally, yay. It's pretty cool I think.

p1080150y.th.jpg

I need to take a pic of the case with the panels on. You can't tell that it's loaded except for the obvious 3 fan grill in the top. Lemme know what ya think, etc, thanks.

**Oh btw, I used the 4 dollar XSPC compression fittings from jab-tech on this build instead the Bitspower or Enzos. They work fine so far, no leaks, no issues that pop out. They are plated a black chrome and imo they look pretty darn good and at half the cost of BP 1/2" - 3/4" fittings, they are a win.

Thanks Canis. Luckily it's thanks to the odd shape of the MCR end tank that it fit around the screw mounts.

I finished the mod on the rheobus.

Gah. I just got a new MCR120 from sidewinder. I pull the rad out of the box and there's a ton of flux rattling inside the rad. LOL What the hell kinda QC is this? To make it worse, it's stuck on the closed end tank side. mad.gif

Was expecting to see a 120.5 rad, which sounded very very long. So you have a total of 720cm2 of rad space, nice!

In that case I also have 600mm = (140.2+120.1+200.1) in my 650D... but I've got a total of 936cm2. =P

Nice job by the way!

That's a lot of rad inside a 650D too. That's a nice modern case.

I don't know the dimensions off hand, but this Lian Li looks a lot bigger than it actually is. I was contemplating sticking another 120 in front of the 5 1/4 drive cages but I'm not sure. This flux issue is making me hesitate, well that and the impending lack of a real intake as a result of putting a rad in the only intake spot. Doh.

Side panel mod as an intake. You always have options, always!
