I would avoid just because of hygiene issues. Might be a little irrational, but an extra $30 for a new pair is worth it IMO.

Second hand audio equipment isn't that bad at all. It's not like these are in ear. Pads can be cleaned/replaced at a very low cost. Otherwise they sound better than they would brand new (unless theres some kind of defect). I personally don't mind headphones being shared. I'll try other people's over ear headphones without any worry about germs and stuff, but that might just be me.

I don't have a problem with using some else's phones, just owning them permanently. Again, it's a little irrational, but I've had some bad experience with any used equipment. This keyboard I'm using was listed as "Like New", and I spent 2 hours popping off all the keys and cleaning the hair/dust/everything out of it. Still shudder thinking about.

But yeah I digress.
