Looking for a Sapphire 6990 - Page 2

This is not true since the 6990 comes with a dual bios switch that OC's the card from 830 to 880mhz so it makes it just like 2 6970's

This, plus 6990's being so hard to find, is why I decided to go for 3x 6970 (3rd card as soon as I have the coin).

I'm sure you could overclock the 6990 to compensate though

They don't actually have any in stock they're just taking orders that they're not going to be able to fulfill most likely. I placed an order for one early this morning around 9:30 AM after they first showed available and my order status is backordered already.

I called and found out they were selling them based on when the manufacturer told them they would receive a shipment next week. The one guy told me they expected to get 30 which could of easily sold in the first hour. And someone else said they called XFX today and was told not to expect any to ship until the end of August.

TigerDirect is notorious for taking a whole bunch of orders on items like this that they never end up shipping out while you wait weeks with it on backorder. And since Amazon hasn't shipped my XFX 6990 order which was placed over a month ago and Newegg hasn't had the XFX 6990's since June I wouldn't hold my breathe.
