The sniper rifles kinda blow ... I've messed with 'em a couple times, but never carry them. The Vintar BC aka Vintorez is my sniper rifle, and it will drop anyone but dude's in exo's with one headshot. It can also serve as a decent close-up gun in a pinch if you toggle back to auto (that gun MUST be in single-shot mode to make a good sniper rifle). Plus it's flash-free/silent so it doesn't attract attention, and best of all, it's just fun as all hell to shoot.

Vintar BC is one of my 2 all-time favorite game weapons ... tied with the prototype particle weapon in F.E.A.R. ... the one that smokes fools down to their skeletons in one shot.

So yeah ... I agree they should make the sniper rifles better, cause they suck compared to the Vintar and I'd never carry one in any of the other three games.

I'll also add I'd like the better stealth mechanics (the complete mod in SoC def. does a better job with them, you can totally sneak around at night), maybe even something like a stealth boy. Invisibility is clearly allowed for in the Stalker universe (see: bloodsuckers) so it's not like it'd be out of place to have the scientists figure out how to emulate the mechanism.

Wouldn't mind a bit more personality in the NPC's, too, more backstory to the characters ... and more talking by them as well. In the first series the only people that talk are mission-givers, everyone else you just read their 'lines'. I'd like it if the NPC's actually talked (but you could skip through their spiels like in FO3) more and had some real personality and 'stories' to them.

For game play:
1. Combine ALL the maps: all the SHoC maps (bar, etc.), all the CS maps (limansk, etc.), and of course all 3 CoP maps. Use the best version available if there's duplicates (i.e. use CS's Cordon). Also add more maps.

2. Add more content post-game. I found that after CoP, there was very little to do.

3. Faction wars. IMO that was the best part of CS.

4. Co-op. Dont change anything to the story to make it 'co-op' friendly. Just combine 2 or 4 (no more than that) players SP games into 'co-op'. If two players are on opposite factions... then they are against each other (but still have the same story missions). If you die, just have a revive system, or a re spawn system at the nearest friendly HQ (not outpost - HQ).

5. MORE GUNS - you can always have more guns. Preferably more end-tier guns. By the end of all 3 I had a G36/F2000/Sig500 etc.

6. MORE UPGRADES - Make each upgrade less massive, more specialized, but cost more. Make it seem like a real accomplishment for each upgrade, rather than just walking into an engineer and buying 5+ upgrades all at once. The upgrades should be less 'vague'. Some upgrades should boost single-shot accuracy, rapid fire accuracy, etc.

7. Have emissions do more. CoP did a bit, in that they caused artifacts to respawn, but supposedly emissions actually move anomalies, make new ones, etc. That should happen, too.

8. More zoom on sniper scopes. I like sniping, but the zoom is rather small. Also, bipods.

9. Prone. See above.

10. Dont taunt the player with unusable guns. There's a ton of mounted MGs that you cant use for no reason.

For story:

1. More stuff on the X-labs
2. More stuff on c-consciousness
3. More stuff on the origin of the zone
4. More voiced stuff, less pages of text. The system is fine, but a lot of the good info is hidden in PARAGRAPHS of unvoiced text. Its somewhat dull reading it, when you know you could be exploring the X-labs or something.
5. More high-level anomalies. The time-bubble in CoP was cool (the trapped duty guys) and the teleportation spheres in CS were cool. More of this please.

Thats basically it for me.

Thread Starter
Just went through the thread, and had to agree and disagree with some points.

- I had no issues with Snipers. On the contrary, I carried around the SVD Dragunov quite often. I had a ton of fun sniping some bandits and Mercs.

- I agree with above: a more in depth upgrade system. Nothing boring then to have your AK74 fulling upgraded. I would rather that it is hard to upgrade, and every gun has a special upgrade to it. I know that Streloks AK-74 was far more effective than pretty much any gun in SoC.

- More converse with the Ukrainian military. Would be interesting if they decided to do a full invasion of the Zone. See them combat more often with the STALKERS and other factions.

- Find out what happened to X7.

- The Noosphere.....What is the deal? Why isn't the Noosphere more popular in the game? they mention it, but not much is known about it. It is apparently the noosphere that creates the "fake" Scar in the alternate story of the game (that never made it) and the counterpart (creature that also never made it into the game).

Mods.... lots of mods. Plenty of Monolith to kill, and underground labs to make me cry myself to sleep.
In progress.
