Get a weaker power supply, save some money. Or get another F3.

A 450W PSU would be plenty for that system. Other than that, it looks good.

I would not recommend you get a 450W PSU, just in case. At 4.6Ghz, you might draw aroung 344W,but should you choose to add more components, or upgrade (add) video cards, you may start gettin close to 400w. And you usually want to have a lot of headroom for spikes etc. Plus, a powersupply is not something I would want to be running anywhere near to max, and this is only my personnal preference.

Use this website to calculate power consumption depending on components. You can fill in anything.
http://www.extreme.outervision.com/p...ulatorlite.jsp

EDIT: Note that this calculator is very very conservative, so it might rate components at the maximum possible power utilisation for each componnent all at once.

Anything over 500w is great though. I ran an HX520 on a Q6600, 4 hard drive, 4gb ram, 2 optical drives and a GTX280, all overclocked, no problem. The most I had calculated I could draw was around 400W.

Almost all quality power supplies are rated for continuous power loads and can handle brief spikes in excess of the rated wattage.

Operating a power supply 24/7 near the maximum power draw can shorten the life of the unit and its ability to deliver the rated wattage. You might get to 80% of full system load during gaming or maybe higher if you're folding. You're nowhere near that figure when the computer is off (obviously) or you're doing less intensive tasks such as checking email, web browsing, or watching video playback.

A quality 450W psu would be more than enough unless your friend is going to be doing 12+ hours of heavy gaming every day or folding 24/7. If that's the case, then consider a quality 550W unit. Check the sticky threads in the Power Supplies sub-forum for a list of recommended power supplies, broken down by the wattage range.

^Probably will get 650w For more headroom in the future. Going to advice him to get a Corsair 650TX V2.
But overall what do you think?

Oh yeah, that will be more than enough for any forseable upgrades, considering most components nowadays require slightly less and less power.

I'm still waiting for the day when my computer will be able to get all its power from a solar panel...
