T-Mobile new Plan $49.99/ unlimited everything

Unlimited minutes/texting/web (2gb high speed) after which it down-throttles to EDGE. (I think).

$49.99 2 lines

http://deals.t-mobile.com/unlimited-family-plans

I just checked on AT&T's website.

FamilyTalk Nation Unlimited$119.99 + additional Line ($49.99)
x2 Messaging Unlimited $20.00
x2 DataPro 2GB for 4G Smartphones$25.00

TOTAL for AT&T: $260 + tax&regulatory fees.

Plus, when you go over 2 GB, they charge you another $25, instead of throttling your speeds.

So tell me again how the merger of AT&T and T-Mobile will help customers?

2 Lines, unlimited everything (2 GB of internet)
$260 (AT&T) vs $100 (TMOUSA)
Plus tax+fees.

Which would you prefer?

I could be wrong, but wasn't t-mobil bought out by at&t, thereby rendering their deals and promotions virtualy moot?
Too bad it's $49.99 for 2 lines, EACH totaling $99.

AT&T agreed to purchase T-Mobile, but hasn't been authorized to do so yet. It's still up in the air at the FCC. Many senators and corporations such as Sprint are opposing this merger, and making allot of noise in Washington.

If it were to go through, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon would hold 80% or more of the entire mobile market, leading to higher prices less competition and innovation.

Besides, if you're under contract with T-Mobile and they are acquired, your contract is still valid. It's legally binding. You're legally required to pay that amount for x amount of months, and they're legally required to provide you with those services at that price. If they decide to (which I don't think they can) change your contract, it's a breach of the terms, and you can terminate early without any punishment.

Still, it's the cheapest I've ever seen! It's the same price as Metro PCS and Virgin Mobile and other pre-paid companies. Unlimited everything for 2 lines, $100/mo? Plus if you have discounts ontop of that like gym membership or something/ 20%-30% off?

You're paying after tax like $100 or $105. Great deal IMO.

The merger hasn't happened for the moment. Constant debates over anti-competition in addition to other stuff is hindering the progress at the moment. It'll happen eventually. Maybe sometimes next year, but as off right now we are free from AT&T's grip biggrin.gif

I could jump on this deal when it's time to upgrade. T-Mobile has a few decent phones coming out soon. Thanks Fried for alerting us ^^.

They're just spreading their propoganda. They really want the merger to go through. They're trying to get the people on their side, by promising faster speeds, and better coverage, but I doubt seriously that would be the case. It's more along the lines of buying out compitition and being able to raise costs.

Do you think that AT&T would ever offer $49.99/mo unlimited everything? HA!

I just checked on AT&T's website.

FamilyTalk Nation Unlimited$119.99 + additional Line ($49.99)
x2 Messaging Unlimited $20.00

That's not bad. Not as good as SERO or SERO-P or even SERO-P 4G tho, but those plans are rare or obsolete, plus SIM card phones hold their value better. Wish I had a SIM based phone so I could use a crappy phone at parties or places where I could lose it.

Hmmm..

The first two lines are $49.99/mo. each line, totaling $99.98 per month. Each of the first two lines includes:

Unlimited data: Up to 2 GB of high-speed data (for capable devices), then reduced speeds after that. If you use up your high-speed data, we will automatically reduce your speeds for the rest of your billing cycle—so you can still connect without overages.
Unlimited talk minutes
Unlimited text
New two-year agreement

Not too sure if I would like that. Does that include the $10 per device premium for data? I'm currently on a grandfathered unlimited plan at 5gb cap per device which I might jump ship for sprint come this fall if things start to get fishy with att. I'll buy unlocked devices if I have to in order to keep my plan from changing.

It might not be as good as grandfathered data plans, but for what is available now, it is a steal. More than 60% cheaper than at&t.

Also, no additional fees except the usual fcc regulatory fees and tax.
