Temps ok Noctua D14 ?

Thread Starter
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Intel i7 950 overclocked to 3.8GHz with a CPU Voltage of 1.25 room temp 20
getting Idle: 46c to 48c
100% load with prime95: 72c to 75c

are these temps ok ? Noctua D14 is meant to be the "Best" air cooler around also how effective will water cooling be with the same setup how much will temps drop on idle and load ? Thanks

Hmmm for only a cpu voltage of 1.25 those temps are a bit high I think. Your also only clocked at 3.8, I have the same cooler and mine is clocked at 4.2 and runs cooler than yours. Do you have HT on or off? Do you have all your fans in your Haf X?

Seems a bit high for that voltage. I'm at 1.39v and idle in the high 20's low 30's c with ambient at 24c. Prime95 on load temps get to high 70's, and might kiss low 80c but this is at 1.4v. Might want to try reseating your cooler and applying your thermal compound again. Doing this shaved about 5c off my temps.

SB i7s run a lot cooler than 9x0 series.
But those temps are a bit high for your setup especially at that voltage.
Maybe you have high ambient temps. What's your room temp when testing?

What voltage is your 950 running at for those temps and are those Prime95 temps?

"Maybe you have high ambient temps. What's your room temp when testing?"

He said his room temp is 20c which is about 68f which isn't that bad. Right now though my ambient is about 50f so that def. helps.

Yeah those are Prime 95 temps, I'm at 1.296v

I am running my 2600K @ 4.6GHZ with 1.320V on a NH-D14. The max temps I am reaching while folding (mostly 24/7) are 72C. I would recommend re-seating and reapplying the grease to your Heatsink. I had to do it and my temps dropped from 78-80C to where they are now (between 65-72C on full load)
