Try reapplying doing the dot method. I used about a pea sized dot in the middle of my 2600K. To my knowledge, somebody can correct me if I am wrong, it is recommended to use the line method if your HS has direct touch heatpipes, which the NH-D14 does not.

Of all the methods I've tried I prefer the dot method best. Just use the dot method, a small pea sized drop in the centre and use the cooler weight to spread it all out.

That ambient temp isn't too bad, which means you should probably reseat your heatsink.

Ok it just gets worse room temp is 22 and just seen the voltage to make sure it's at 1.23125 so even lower then 1.25 and the temps know idle at 51c to 53c by the way the 3.8GHz is set to default so it stays their all the time its not controlled by the operating system I no theirs a option in bios don't no whats it's called but it's disabled where you have your overlclocked speed all the time without it dropping also bclk is 181 and CPU multiplier is 21

Yeah damn that is really hot for that speed/vcore. How is your case cooling, like your fan setup with intake exhaust?

line method doesn't work great for square based heat sinks

What are you using to monitor your cpu temps? If you aren't already using core temp, give that a try.

These temps aren't making any sense for your cooler. Is your D14 set to exhaust air through the back or through the top? Did you install the fans correctly for either setup? You didn't use those lower voltage connectors did you? Check to see if the fans are all pushing air in the right direction.

If all else fails try reseating it. Maybe try the stock paste?

The air flow in my haf x case is:

Front 230mm Intake Fan
Side 200mm Intake Fan

Back 140mm Outtake Fan
Top 200mm Outtake Fan
Top Option for another 200mm Outtake Fan but NOT installed

I would read
http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...g-warning.html

Maybe try making that top 200mm fan an intake as well.
