All this and better high ISO performance. 1600 on a D700 looks like 400 or maybe even less on my D90

If you have no interest in the video the D700 is the better camera for still use.

Couldn't agree more with these guys. D700 is better than the 5D MK II for still photography.

If photography is your main intention, D700 by all means. It's the better built camera, has better high ISO performance, faster shooting speed, MUCH better AF system, etc.

And I'm saying all of the above as a 5D owner myself.

If you want to do video as well, then the D700 isn't such a good option anymore

That's an awfully far-fetched claime, don't you think? The D700 and 5DII are both great cameras, and each have their advantages/disadvantages.
I hate the D700. 5DII is better in almost every way for me at least. I've owned 2 D700s and 2 D3s, and I'm on my 5th 5DII, so I would know. 21 MP is so best, AF is as good as the D700 center point (focus and recompose is faster for me), I don't see any difference with the buttons on the D700 at all, it's all there wut, on camera flash is disgusting so the better flash system of Nikon doesn't really do anything, HOW ARE YOU HOLDING THE CAMERA SO THE DIAL GOES INTO YOUR CHEEEEEK?! Intervalometer is useful I guess, I'm not much for stop motions though. You do know you can get a DK-19 for the D700 right? The 5DII has interchangeable focusing screens, add manual focus
lenses and its a ton cheaper.

Also, jesus christ, man. D3000 kit to 60D and 50 to X100 to D700, you're crazier than me which is saying a lot.

Besides the fact of resolution (Whoop dee doo) it's a very valid claim.
