You're using Logitech speakers. That is all.

Sound cards have a higher SnR than onboard solutions, generally give more power, and have less interference. If you can't tell a difference, that's too bad. Again, Logitech speakers are far from great, and I'd bet you'd be able to tell the difference with higher end speakers.

I have a titanium HD, and cant really tell the difference between that and onboard.

The main consulation is the offload on the CPU.
I won't buy an ancillary sound card again.

There is definitely a difference, just that you need good enough equipment to hear it. Z2300 aren't exactly noted for their precision/accuracy of sound, which is alot of what sound cards do. They also make gaming with headphones wayyy better, but you would need headphones with a decent soundstage for that as well.

Edit: For gaming, omega striker was the wrong way to go. Its know to be more of a music/movie card than a gaming card. Prob should have gone with a Xonar DX or an auzentech forte.

If you're not hearing a difference, then your equipment isn't detailed/analytical enough or you haven't done a side-by-side.

This kind of applies to mechanical keyboards as well (since I see a lot of you mech keyboard folks are also in the audio section a lot). You don't really know what you have until someone takes it away from you. Then you realize how good things actually were when you had it and you want it back.

if you refer to almost every recommendation post on this forum for a gaming sound card, it is usually the HT omega striker thats recommended...

if this is the case, then could someone recommend a better solution to me as far as a good speaker system and sound card for gaming then??

Before I bought my sound card (a xonar dx 2 months ago), I did extensive research. Like reading to page 6 on google on terms like "best sound card", "xonar dx review", etc. I can only say that except for pure gaming, xonar dx is the best card for below $80 when you can get Auzentech forte.

Creative and Auzentech are the only companies that can obtain EAX 5, while Asus software can emulate it 90%. Omega can't do that. Instead its stuck with EAX 2.0 or 1.0 or something really old like that. Omega does have DTS support while DX doesn't, but thats more in the movies category, which omega is better in.

Edit: if you want suggestions please give price range and preferences (gaming, music, movie,) (bass, rock, classical)

I did give suggestions, please refer to other posts. Newegg states that the omega striker does DTS and DD, and cam highly recommended from this forum specifically for gaming. I'm not pointing the finger, idc. I just want something better. Looks like a creative or auzentech would do it. thanks!

..What? Where are you getting that? I can't even recall the last time someone recommended an Omega Striker. 90% of recommendations are Xonars and Titaniums.
HT Omegas cards are usually the cards that semi-pro users might think about getting it for creating their modest audio studio ,HT Omegas has usually high quality materials and better hardware and more I/O ports comparing with end user manufactures (ASUS , Creative , Azuentech)

but its not like that pro , it still good for end users , i agree with Narzon , your speakers are very modest

so if you game alot.........................who advice you to get this card
