2500k at 4.5 freezing in Prime 95 - Page 2

Smoking Bananas!!!
That voltage isn't dangerous, but not worth the heat. Back down to 4.2-4.4 and see how that plays out. I do 4.5Ghz @ ~1.3v (Granted, I got a pretty decent chip )

Instead of trying to raise vcore you could try raising qpi/vtt to 1.125 but nothing past 1.2 for 24/7 use. You also could try lowering pll volts down from stock 1.8 to 1.7/1.72 or so. You could also try limiting back ground proccesses But vcore is the king when it comes down to getting it stable if all alse fails.

could be a bad stick of RAM, or faulty DIMM slot. Try testing with only 1 stickor RAM.

Thread Starter
i did 5 passes on the ram using memtest 86+ version 4.2 and it found no errors
i stress tested again with idle voltages at 1.33v and load at 1.36v and i got a rounding error after 3 hours and 20 minutes
the fft length was 1344k
its 20 runs stable in IBT at stress level maximum (6970mb)

any ideas?

don't use llc that gives a load higher than idle, use ultra high/75%,

the ibt proves you're getting enough vcore, i'm having massive problems getting mine stable in all conditions with power savings - you aren't using any are you?

the whole system freezing was something that plagued me for months using ddr3 ram designed for the older chipset, however i have 4gb of the same ripjaws as you, and they work fine, so it can't be the ram

You can do custom blend in Prime95. Make max and min fft to 1344. also do the same on 1792.
You may put 6500mb or ram to be tested.
This way, you don't have to wait hours till you get BSOD.
When it passes 2x15 min runs, it'll most likely pass 12hours test.

The life of a chip decreases near exponentially when you add more and more voltage. It's not going to die in a month but I'll be surprised if it lasts a year. Granted, many people here upgrade so often that it doesn't matter.
