Hi guys, I'm back again for another mouse review/opinion. This time its the Zowie Mico. I will be testing it with a used but in good condition Razer Goliathus Speed black cloth mouse pad.
Positive acceleration
The Mico's sensor is unique in that it doesn't have any positive acceleration until you approach its perfect control speed. On the 400 and 800CPI steps a slow, medium and even a fast swipe ends up with zero positive acceleration but when I purposely swipe really fast a hair of positive acceleration shows up. This isn't a problem for me because I won't be swiping that fast and I doubt many would even with really low sensitivities but I did find it strange because no other sensor that I have used behaves like this.
Perfect control speed.
I don't have a way to measure it exactly so ill just say it feels higher than my MX518 but lower than my Deathadder 3G. It's Plenty for me, much higher than the CM storm spawn that I tried.
Prediction
The Mico definitely has prediction and I felt it immediately. It feels just barely less than that of the EC2/MX518. This isn't a deal breaker for me but I would prefer the prediction to be less.
Jitter
Thankfully my Mico has zero jitter on the 400 or 800CPI steps.
Lift off distance
On my goliathus speed it stops tracking at two cd's but it actually feels like it stops tracking right after the first. Nice and low.
Buttons
The Mico uses huano micro switches and they feel awesome, the clicks are crisp and require a good amount of force to trigger.
Scroll wheel
The wheel is too easy to spin through each tick, there needs to be more resistance at each bump. I can see myself making mistakes with it because of this. Not a deal breaker but it gets a meh from me.
Shape
The shape is very simple but I like it a lot. It's borderline too small for me so I'm forced to finger tip it but It still feels great. The cord is average, not vacuum cleaner thick like the CM spawn but not as thin as the preferred DA 3G.
Weight
The low weight of the mico makes it feel extremely nimble in my hand compared to the DA that I have been using for the past few months.
Build quality
One small annoyance I have with this mouse is that the buttons can actually make contact with each other which causes an awful loud popping noise that makes you think you broke the switch or the mouse. This can happen when only pressing one of the buttons.
Other than that everything else seems fine, I just hope it lasts.
Conclusion
Its not perfect but its a keeper
EDIT: I found a weird tracking bug (too good to be true right?) while browsing the web using the auto scrolling feature where you click the mouse wheel button and move the mouse up or down to scroll pages for you...... Well the Mico sometimes JUMPS many pixels to the side.... It takes some time to reproduce this on both the talent and the goliathus so im not sure if this will be a huge problem Its definitely noticeable while in game. Example of the bug highlighted below, again I'm just moving the mouse up and down, not to the side. This happens at 400 and 800CPI. It does this moving from side to side as well.
