Having firmware update makes it unique.

From the Topre Wiki I co-authored.

Note the box is wrong. It's actually 35g for the pinkies.

The good feeling of oneness with cup rubber statement is entirely accurate.

Two out of four cherry boards I have purchased I had a Ping across the board. Including a Filco (Linear R), and Mionix. So it does happen. So I guess there is something you get with a Topre that you can't get with a cherry board, better quality. Topre > Cherry. Well, you can always buy those dampening pads at EK if you get the ping. I declined, 179 dollars you want a board that doesn't ping.

For $345 the RealForce keyboard (or a measly $579 for the HHKB Silent) only pings if you hold your ear against the back of the keyboard and snap the key.

You DO sometimes get this sticky farting sound though.

Farting sound? Well, based on what I have heard I wouldn't put a HHK in the same category as a Topre in quality. They don't seem to be the same.

Hey Ripster, I buy them because I can. Isn't that what you say with the Filco's? hehe.

I can.

On the plus side, these prices make my keyboard seem more reasonably priced.
