I'm going to be building a new rig and need to figure out how big a PSU I need.

Here's the planned specs. Forgive the names, copy/paste from NewEgg.

Please note I plan to SLI the 580 in the future.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Oh, and these were the two I was looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139014

Thanks!
I'd suggest you an strider 1000, considering the well-known 1500 one has pretty good reviews in many sites http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256068

I'd never recommend you to buy a 750/850w psu for that rig cause if you are gonna SLI later it will be working at 80/90 percentage of its capacity...

This may help you. I'm running a 920w psu with a 2600k OC'd, 2 GTX 580's OC'd, 4 HDDs, 1 SSD, 2 optical drives, and 8 fans. I fold on both gpu's and my cpu almost everyday, so it sees a lot of full load usage and I've never had an issue.

So, maybe a 1000W just to be safe? As Averywhite was having trouble with his 570's.

An AX850 is more than enough for 580 SLI. There is absolutely no need to go with a 1000w.

Just because I'm having problems doesn’t mean you will. I’m personally looking at the Corsair HX 1050 for my rig to throw out a suggestion for a PSU. I always believe you should go a little extra on your PSU for a little head room.

Just for your information, my rig draws 715W from the wall under full load (running prime95 + 3DMark 11). Factor in I'm in New Zealand (240VAC) and my 80+ Silver PSU (85%, 89%, 85% efficiency @ 20%, 50%, 100% load), my rig's power consumption under 100% load is around 622W.

The HX is cheaper than the AX and wont make any noticeable difference.
