They don't care as long as your buying their products and as soon as they can't do that for a reasonable price and giving good value for money, then people will turn to Intel and buy their stuff instead.

And if you guys are worried about AMD going bust, even if that did happen, intel wouldn't become a monopoly company and own the CPU Market, they wouldn't be allowed to do that...just like sky isn't allowed to completely own all tv channels etc. They just happen to be the bigger company and can spend more money, as is the intel/AMD situ.
Yeah, just like Microsoft isn't allowed to dominate the OS...
Oh, wait.
Well, at least EA wasn't the only company to make games for the NFL...
Oh...wait.
Well surely Blizzard didn't dominate the MMO...
DAMMIT!
See, this is what happens when companies have no real competition.
And what I am waiting for the the all important question of IPC.
I HAVE to assume the IPC will not be the same as the current Deneb/Thuban. Even if it goes to 3 over 2, it's going to be pretty good. If it matches Intel with 4, it'll be a MONSTER.

Benches first. But most likely I will be going Ivy since I already have a Sandy rig.

In other news, its rather funny how all of you guys are herping and derping about how awesome a unreleased product will be even though you have no indication of its performance. eg. The epic failures of Phenom I, Phenom II and Crysis 2.

My Phenom II is sad now..

On topic: Yes, I will get one as soon they are available around here. Not sure if I go 4-,6- or 8-core yet.

Phenom I wasn't all that bad. Sure it was flawed and had issues, but I loved my 9950 BE. That chip did very well (though it overclocked like garbage). It performed well for me for a few years and would not hesitate using it in a second rig.

I just hope AMD progresses further with some of the stuff they have now, instead of just adding more and more cores and trying to say that it's the best. 6/8 cores mean nothing to me if it can't keep up with Intel's quad-cores.

This is why I went to the i5-2500k. The top of the line AMD Hexcore couldn't match it in most benchmarks.

AMD's 6 core tech, AKA the 1100T, is 2 years old, vs a cpu that was released this year. So, when you compare the 1100T to the 2500k, it should be noted as reference, since BD will release in the same calendar year as SB and then it will be a correct comparison. Yes, I know the argument of "it's the only thing AMD has to offer right now" bit is totally baseless, since the year is not up yet and BD is releasing next month. Bias is bias. If AMD solves the problems of computing with more cores at a lower price point than Intel does with HT and their tech, then that is a win. Most of the differences between the two are mostly measured by benchmarks that have no real world use, other than to play a numbers game for consumers. You pay a premium when you buy Intel products just because it says "Intel".

According to that argument, I guess it would be bias to compare performance of BD on release day to SB. Sure, it will be the best Intel offering available at the time, but SB-e is due to drop in the same calender year(if you believe that "leaked roadmap"), so I guess you would have to wait for that to drop for a "non-bias" performance comparison?

I'm not sure if I agree with that logic. I am excited for BD to drop, and I do hope it does well in performance, and sales. I'm not going to buy one, I'm going to try to make my lynnfield last until the 14nm CPU's come out.

It would be nice for AMD to actually challenge Intel though, other than just offering good performance for the price.
