its meant to work on mine too not sure about it though may just start a new build based on the 990fx chipset to get the full potential out of the chip and they also ofter sli or crossfire thats the cherry on the cake

you dont need 16 cores to open up multiple programms...A decent quad core and a SSD to match is more than enough for that task my friend.

I see this as AMD's attempt to one-up Intel, as Intel don't have any 'BRAND' new releases (No new architecture for example) yet, apart from IB in the pipelines and the SB-E's already out.. Intel have p0wnt AMD for general performance, And i don't think BullDozer will be as main-stream as i5/i7 ever was, It seems like the Gulftown's equivalent, although aimed at i7 2600k (8 core bulldozer) and i5 2500k (6 core bulldozer). It may well be more bang for buck (AMD's speciality) buuhhhttt.. AM3+ just won't amount to much for me, specially not with Ivy Bridge in a year or so.

Well judging by your rig and your avatar, im guessing your quite into AMD (Can I borrow a sarcasm reader: Mine just broke).

Unfortunately its true what I said, that Intel has beat AMD SO many times with each new chip release that its not even funny anymore.

Frankly, the only time I could ever ever see myself buying an amd chip over an intel one is when I cannot physically nor could I ever physically save up to buy the slightly more expensive intel chip. Thats genuinely it.

I would rather go out and pick up pennies off the street until I have saved up to buy a more expensive intel chip, than to go out and buy a budget AMD chip.

Once I see some benchmarks and real time testing, than I will purchase if the performance is there.
