pulled off a voltage regulator from my gtx 480 FIXED

soo angry about this, does anybody know what i should do? gtx 480s have gone up in price alot and they are extremely hard to find now too.

i have a soldering iron i could probably put a new one on if i knew what the hell it was and were to get one from

looks more like a choke to me, but I'm no EE.

If you still have the part, try taking it into radio shack or a local small electronics store.

A TV/Electronics repair shop might do it for you cheaply if there are any left near by.

if anybody knows what its called it would be really helpful, so i can order one or know what to ask for if i ever find an electronics store :/

wait... is that the thing that came off next to the card in the pic?

If it is, that's a solid capacitor. Take it into radiocrack, find one with the same specs(doesn't even have to be a solid cap), and resolder.

That's just a capacitor. If you can find the voltage and capacitance you can replace it with one of the same specs.

how will i find out what the specs are? on the top it just says:

Send Fir3Chi3f a pm. He has a great tut for replacing caps on monitors and one of the best guys I know that knows about cap.

Well getting a replacement is fine and dandy but if you can't soldier you are still up a creek without a paddle.

Because $370 for a brand new MSI GTX 480 Lightning is expensive compared to what they used to be...
And I constantly see 480s for sale in the marketplace or in stores/online...
If anything the market is flooded with 480s because owners jumped to the 580.


Anyway, Thats a cap.
Radio Shack, Solder a matching spec cap in its place, Hope.
