Can't decide between ASUS M5A97 PRO/EVO or other mobo ... can you help me please?

Hello forum

Basically I need to replace my old mb and I am wondering what is the difference between the 2 mobos in the title and are there better choices for that price range (can't be bothered to pay twice as much money for CHV)

I won't be crossing/sliing
I don't care about pci slots
All I care is overclockability and quality and I really like the UEFI bios and the software for OC and control that comes with those boards (maybe it's a marketing trick that worked on me I dunno tongue.gif )

So I will be really happy if you help me deciding what's best for me smile.gif

Thanks
MAFK

I would say the Evo is a better choice, it has more ports, but that is about it, and it has a cooler sounding name.

you should make your thread title more clear.

Quite frankly I don't know the difference between the two
Go for whichever one is cheaper

It took me a little while to figure it out, but the evo has more USB ports. and I think more sata ports too. But mainly more USB 3 ports.

Thank you for the quick response I narrowed it down to ASUS M5A97 EVO vs GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3. If you had to make a decision which one would you choose?

the asus hands down. I am kinda an asus fanboy, even though I don't own a single asus product.
but between the two, the gigabyte looks a little bit better built. But I would go with the asus only because of the feature set, the gigabyte does offer more ports though.

EDIT: Never mind, I fail. The asus has Esata and the gigabyte doesn't I would most definitely go with the asus board then.

I do not know what the GB has for BIOS, but the new ASUS UEFI and auto-overclock system work great.

It sure does. Unfortunately all the pretty heatsinks are covered with fans on my rig already.
